While Turkey was entering the new year with a flood of price hikes, the closing of the Osmangazi Bridge 5 minutes before midnight after the hike in bridges and highways caused the citizens to revolt.

While the New Year's hikes were raining, the toll on the Osmangazi Bridge was also increased. Allegedly, the toll booths closed 5-10 minutes before midnight in order to apply the increased tariff, which will start to run after midnight. A citizen who wanted to cross the bridge said, “There are 3 minutes, 3 minutes. They will receive a raise… Shame on you…” he rebelled.

Turkey started 2022 with a price hike storm. Natural gas increased by 25 percent, gasoline 0,61 cents, diesel oil 1,29 cents, LPG 0,78 cents, electricity 1 lira 37 cents, alcohol and cigarettes excise duty 47 percent, high-speed train ticket prices 20 percent.
