Private public bus tradesmen from Ankara paid a thank you visit to Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş. Having met with hundreds of bus tradesmen gathered in front of the Presidential Building with drums and zurna, Yavaş stated that they will continue to provide financial support to public transportation tradesmen and said, “Therefore, both our tradesmen will survive and our citizens will continue to ride cheaply. We will try to both support the tradesmen and keep the numbers down as much as our means allow.”

Providing support to private public buses, whose number of passengers decreased during the pandemic process, Yavaş continues to support the bus tradesmen, who have had a hard time after the increase in the recent economic conditions.
All Private Public Bus Cooperatives Union (TÖHOB) President Kurtuluş Kara, Ankara Public Buses Chamber of Craftsmen Ercan Soydaş and its members visited Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş after his promise of support.
YAVAS: “WE HAVE DECIDED TO CONTINUE TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL SUPPORT”
Hundreds of bus shopkeepers gathered in front of the Presidential Building accompanied by drums and zurnas, danced halay with applause and shouted slogans and thanked President Yavaş. Not leaving the enthusiastic bus shopkeepers with whom he came together slowly, he made the following statements:
“As you know, we had a pandemic period and with the decisions taken during this period, semi-passenger transportation started. As such, of course, the tradesmen and our EGO administration were forced. EGO has been making losses for years, public transportation is subsidized in all parts of the world, as long as they don't come to the city by car... On top of that, when there was a pandemic and half passengers boarded, this time, of course, our private public buses started to lose. So we supported them last year and helped them survive. Now we are faced with another disaster. Unfortunately, there are very extraordinary hikes. Great hikes have come in both natural gas and diesel fuel. Again, the pandemic environment continues. Citizens do not want to get into vehicles in a very cramped way. We had to do something. Our tradesmen had to survive, and those who came by public transportation had to come with reasonable wages. He was coming with his own vehicle. However, those who did not have their own vehicle were coming by buses. We did not find it appropriate to justify that the incoming hikes were only imposed on these passengers. Therefore, in order to spread this to the whole of Ankara, together with our municipal council, we decided to continue to provide financial support to our public transportation tradesmen. Therefore, both our tradesmen will survive and our citizens will continue to ride cheaply. We will try to support both the tradesmen and keep the numbers down as much as our means allow. I hope the economy gets back on track as soon as possible. Of course, we will try to support not only the bus operators, but also the dolmuş drivers by meeting with them if there are any losses.”
KARA: “HELPING EVERYONE SINCE THE PANDEMIC WAS OVER”
The President of All Private Public Bus Cooperatives Union, Kurtuluş Kara, thanked President Yavaş and said, “Since the pandemic broke out, he has been helping everyone, including our farmers, to the public transportation tradesmen, the people of Ankara, the students, and the day he said he will not go hungry. Yesterday, we visited our President, Ms. Meral Akşener, and talked about the facts there. In order to keep the tradesmen alive, my President, Mansur, has made us this way by using the budgets of the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. While saying, "Thank you, I want to exist", Ercan Soydaş, President of Ankara Public Buses Chamber of Craftsmen, made the following evaluations:
“First of all, I would like to thank our president. Since the beginning of the pandemic, they have tried to keep this sector alive with masks, disinfectants, driver cabins, food aid and cash support for our drivers. Today, they have decided to continue their support. We thank them very much.
This move of our President Mansur will set an example for the municipalities in other provinces, and the mayors decide to support our friends there.”
After the speeches, Mayor Yavaş asked the bus shopkeepers to be nice to the passengers and said, "We do not want complaints from the people of Ankara."
