12th International Adana Liberation Half Marathon Has Been Run

12th International Adana Liberation Half Marathon was run. The start of the run was given by Adana Governor Süleyman Elban, Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar and Turkish Athletics Federation President Fatih Çintimar.

This year, 21 running events were held together: 10 km half marathon, 5 km run, public run, obstacle course and children's run.

In the competitions, where athletes from 12 countries were hosted, the highest number of participation was realized so far and more than 2 thousand athletes competed.

President Zeydan Karalar greeted the athletes coming to the city from all over the country and the world in his speech before the start. President Zeydan Karalar said, “Mert, welcome to Adana, where young people live. I wish you all success,” he said.

The Independence Half Marathon and the People's Run, organized by Adana Metropolitan Municipality under the auspices of Adana Governor's Office, as part of the 5th Anniversary Events on January 100, Adana's Independence Day, were also included in the 2021-2022 activity program of the Turkish Athletics Federation.

The historical textures of the city took place on the route in the races, which were the scene of colorful images.

This year, there were warm-up-cooling physiotherapy areas, fruit and soda stands on the route for athletes. In addition, materials such as t-shirts, bags, hats, sweat bracelets, towels and magnets were given to the athletes.

10 athletes participated in the half marathon and 1680 km run, 500 people participated in the public run, and 100 children participated in the children's run. Individuals with special needs also competed in a separate category in the competition.

Half Marathon Men's 1st place was Emmanuel Bor (Kenya), 2nd Getaye Fisseha Gelaw (Kenya), 3rd Benard Cheruiyot Sang (Kenya).

In the Women's Half Marathon, Daisy Jeptoo Kimeli (Kenya) became the second, Burcu Subatan (Turkey) and Büşra Nur Koku (Turkey).

In Men's 10 km Run, Abdullah Tuğluk became the second, Onur Aras, and Hakan Çoban became the third.

In Women's 10 km Run, Özlem Buyer became the 1st, Sümeyye Erol and the 3rd Sabriye Güzelyurt.

The award ceremony of the competitions was held at Adana Metropolitan Municipality Theater Hall.

A total of 372 thousand TL cash prizes were distributed in the competitions.
