Hüseyin Keskin, General Manager of the State Airports Authority (DMHİ), announced that due to adverse weather conditions, aircraft landing and take-offs on the runways of Istanbul Airport cannot be made until 13.00.

The closure of Istanbul Airport runways has been extended until 13:00 tomorrow.

Hüseyin Keskin, General Manager of the State Airports Authority (DMHİ), said in a statement on his Twitter account, "Due to the negative weather conditions continuing, planes will not be taking off and landing on the runways of Istanbul Airport, and the closure has been extended until 25:13 on January 00."

Cleaning work continues uninterrupted

Continuing its efforts to restart the flights intensively, İGA carries out work to clean the runway and taxiway.

At Istanbul Airport, 300 personnel, 130 snowplows and equipment work on the air side, and 200 personnel and 50 vehicles on the land side.

Some passengers are still waiting

After the decision to stop the flights, some passengers left the terminal at Istanbul Airport. Some passengers whose flights were canceled preferred to stay at the airport.

Due to the closure of the roads to the airport due to adverse weather conditions, the passengers staying in the terminal created a density in front of the ticket sales offices, counters and information points of the airline companies.

Some passengers were seen resting or sleeping on the seats. It was observed that the passport points, which were busy in normal times, were empty this time.

Passengers waiting on planes on the apron were evacuated

İGA carried out the evacuation procedures of the passengers staying on the planes on the apron.

In the statement made on İGA's official Twitter account, "As of now, the evacuation procedures of all our passengers at Istanbul Airport have been completed." it was said.

Flights continue at Sabiha Gökçen Airport

At Sabiha Gökçen Airport, on the other hand, domestic and international flights continue to be sparse. Passengers whose flights have been canceled due to a 15% reduction in flights, sometimes create a density in front of airline companies due to ticket changes.

Passengers, whose transactions are completed, are sent from the airport to the hotels where they will stay by bus.

İGA announced that flight operations were suspended until 25:04.00 on January XNUMX due to adverse weather conditions and heavy snowfall.
