EMRA will examine the complaints that the electricity tariffs valid as of January 1 are reflected on the December bills. The discussion in question came to the fore after CHP Giresun Deputy Necati Tığlı sent a written question to the Presidency of the Turkish Grand National Assembly to be answered by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Fatih Dönmez.
The CHP deputy claimed that the electricity tariff made in January was reflected in the bills of December.
In his written question paper, Tığlı said, "According to the complaints we received, it is understood from the meter reading services left in the first days of January that these terrible hikes are not valid as of January 1, 2022, but from December 2021, the previous month."
Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) President Mustafa Yılmaz announced that they focused on December's bills, following the complaints sent to the agency that the electricity tariffs effective as of January 1 were reflected on the December bills.
Stating that retail sales companies have to calculate according to the number of days between the first reading date and the last reading date, Yılmaz said, “Retail companies, for example, rate the consumption according to how many days there are in December, over the old prices, and how many days there are in January. it has to calculate the new tariff by proportioning the consumption accordingly. Each consumer pays the electricity bill according to the tariff of the month he uses. The company that applies the different month's tariff will have to pay a heavy price.” he said.
Electricity fees were increased by 52 percent to 130 percent, including taxes and funds, in all consumer groups.
