The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Turkey, General Manager of Turkish State Railways Metin Akbaş and the accompanying delegation met in Iraq upon the invitation of Talib Jawad Kadhim, Chairman and General Manager of the Iraqi Republic Railways Company (IRR).
Turkey Rail System Vehicles Industry Inc. (TÜRASAŞ) TCDD Teknik A.Ş., including the officials, is negotiating for a "direct railway connection between Turkey and Iraq". The delegations came together for technical cooperation, information exchange, experience sharing and railway transportation between Turkey and Iraq.
In addition to the IRR officials, Turkey's Ambassador to Baghdad Ali Rıza Güney and the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government Transport Minister Ano Cevher are also attending the meeting. In the meetings, the development of regional cooperation in the field of railway transportation, freight, passenger transportation and logistics relations are discussed. At the end of the negotiations, it is aimed to add value to the region as well as Turkey and Iraq.
