For Zübeyde Hanım, the mother of the Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, who passed away on January 14, 1923. KarşıyakaA commemoration ceremony was held at his grave in . Mustafa Özuslu, Deputy Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, attended the ceremony. Karşıyaka Mayor Cemil Tugay, Karşıyaka District Governor Ali Rıza Çalışır, representatives of political parties, non-governmental organizations, associations and many citizens attended.
The Turkish Mothers Association started the ceremony with a wreath presentation. Karşıyaka Branch Head Feyza Işıklı stated that she commemorated Ms. Zübeyde with respect and said, “The effort of Ms. Zübeyde, who raised a child like Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, who was kneaded with the love of humanity and homeland, and gave us as a gift, is an example.”
“Remembering Ms. Zübeyde means preserving the values of the Republic”
Turkish Women's Union Karşıyaka Branch President Mehpare Özkaba said, “To commemorate Zübeyde Hanım today means to understand and protect the Republic and its values, its architect, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the mother who gave birth to her, and all mothers, regardless of the circumstances. Sleep peacefully in the lights, our precious mother. The oath our ancestor took at your grave is still the deepest trust in our hearts, as a debt of conscience and honor for us, your grandchildren."

Karşıyaka Mayor Cemil Tugay also said, “He came for his treatment. Zübeyde Hanım Primary school student Defne Yavuz also recited the poem “Mustafa Kemal's Life”. The ceremony ended with the carnations left on the grave of Ms. Zübeyde.
