Forestry General Manager Bekir Karacabey announced that 2021 million TL of support was given to more than 11 thousand forest villagers in 354 within the scope of the Forestry and Village Relations Department (ORKÖY) projects. Karacabey also mentioned that the 2022 budget of ORKOY projects is planned as 400 million TL, adding that they aim to reach 12 thousand forest villagers in total with these appropriations.

In the written statement made by the General Directorate of Forestry (OGM), information was shared about the supports provided in 2021 within the scope of ORKOY, which carries out socio-economic projects for forest villagers. OGM, which provided a total of 2021 million TL support to more than 11 thousand forest villagers and 12 forest village cooperatives in 354, aims to reduce the negative pressure on forests by improving the life quality of forest villagers, increasing their income levels, and to ensure the sustainable management of forests by regulating forest-public relations. aims.

Reminding that 2020 million TL support was provided to forest villagers in 250, Karacabey said, “Today, 23 million of our citizens live in approximately 7 thousand forest villages in Turkey. We continue to develop new projects and provide additional employment areas for our forest villagers in line with the needs. We make every effort to ensure that our citizens live in better conditions. Within the scope of ORKOY projects, we provided a total of 2021 million TL support to more than 11 thousand forest villagers and 12 forest village cooperatives in 354. The 2022 ORKOY budget was planned as 400 million TL. With these appropriations, we aim to reach 12 thousand forest villagers in total.”
