Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club, Turkey's largest sports club in terms of number of athletes and branches, experienced its “golden” period in 2021. Despite the heavy conditions brought by the pandemic, the athletes from Izmir, who competed in 41 branches, won a total of 127 medals, 311 of which were gold. İzmir Metropolitan Belediyespor, which won 7 cups, 14 of which were championships, experienced great joy one after another in team sports.

Despite the pandemic conditions, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club left the year 2021 behind with great success. While the Handball Men's Turkish Cup came to İzmir for the first time, the championship won in Wheelchair Basketball after 17 years took its place in history as the biggest success of 2021. The Handball Women's Team came in second in the Turkish Cup, the Amputee Football Team came in third in the Super League and the Turkish Cup, the Ice Hockey Team became the champion of the 1st League, and the Table Tennis Women's Team advanced to the 2nd League.

Great success in water polo

Success steps were climbed very quickly in the newly established water polo. , Turkey's U-17 Men's Federation Cup and U-17 Men's Federation Cup third place by winning the chest of Izmir.

127 gold medals from judoka

Judo was at the top of the individual branches with 127 gold, 81 silver and 103 bronze medals. The judokas performed brilliantly, winning 45 gold, 21 silver and 31 bronze medals, a total of 97 medals. While skating athletes won 25 gold, 17 silver and 16 bronze, wrestlers brought 11 gold, 11 silver and 15 bronze to İzmir. He took the podium 31 times in tennis, 27 times in athletics, 23 times in swimming, 19 times in triathlon and 17 times in taekwondo.

The most important degree in the international arena from Wrestler Uzun

Wrestler Adem Burak Uzun achieved the most important place in the international arena by placing second in the U23 Greco-Roman Wrestling European Championship and third in the U23 Greco-Roman Wrestling World Championship. Taekwondo players Kaan Yelaldı, Barış Dağ, Esra Akbulak and Hatice Pınar Yiğit took their places on the podium in the 6th International WT President's Cup. Hatice Pınar Yiğit also won a bronze medal at the Youth European Championship in November.

Masal Oran, Derya Taygan, Batu Tasasız, Nehir Alan, Deniz Tarım, Doğa Güner and Rüzgar Bostancı, who participated in ice skating competitions in Europe, deserved applause for their successes. At the 15th European Taekwondo Poomsae Championship, the team consisting of Alper Sadıkoğlu, Hayri Temel Alper and Volkan Yalçınkaya wore the bronze medal around their neck. Okçu Sıla Özdemir won a silver medal in the European Cup with her National Team uniform. Special athlete Tuna Tunca completed the 10-kilometer course in the 4th place in the age category at the World Championship Open Water Swimming Race in Egypt and achieved an important success.

Many organizations were held in Izmir

On the other hand, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Club brought important international organizations to Izmir. After the BVA Beach Volleyball Balkan Championship in 2019, and the U2020 and U18 Beach Volleyball European Championships in 22 were held in İzmir, the excitement of the CEV Continental Cup and U2021 Beach Volleyball European Championships in 20 took place in İzmir. Marathon, which was held for the second time this year, was the fastest track of our country in İzmir. The time of 42:2:09, achieved on the 35-kilometer track of the international Marataonİzmir, was recorded as the best time ever raced in our country.
