154 Years Exhibition at Hilal-i Ahmer in İzmir for the First Time in Turkey

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Mustafa Özuslu participated in the opening of the “154 Years Special Collection and Photography Exhibition in the Red Crescent”, which was held in İzmir for the first time in Turkey. The exhibition at Karaca Cultural Center can be visited until 9 February.

154 Years Special Collection and Photography Exhibition was opened in Hilal-i Ahmer, organized in cooperation with the Turkish Red Crescent İzmir Branch and Karaca Cultural Center. İzmir Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Mustafa Özuslu, Konak Mayor Abdül Batur, İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor Mustafa Öztürk, Turkish Red Crescent İzmir Branch President Kerem Baykalmış, Karaca Cultural Center General Coordinator Meryem İpek, representatives of political parties, district governors, provincial managers, Turkish Red Crescent branch heads and art lovers.

Özuslu: “People of our country will feel better and safer”

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Mustafa Özuslu said, “I am grateful to all our citizens who have stood by the Turkish Red Crescent in wars, natural disasters and all kinds of disasters since those days. I also convey my respects to all the people who have worked in an institution that has completed 154 years by increasing the sense of goodness and social solidarity and by standing by the one who is in trouble. As long as they do, the people of our country will feel better and safer in natural disasters or other disasters that may happen to us," he said.

İzmir Governor Yavuz Selim Köşger also thanked those who contributed to the exhibition. Tülin Batmaz, who participated in the exhibition, which also includes photographs of the 30 October Izmir Earthquake taken in the field, and who lost her children in the earthquake, wished that the same suffering would not happen again.

First time in Turkey in Izmir

The exhibition includes objects from the World War I and the National Struggle periods, as well as photographs from disasters, public holidays and aid events that tell about 1 years. These photographs, extracted from the Kızılay archive, are exhibited for the first time in Turkey. The collection belongs to Haluk Perk. Meryem İpek was the curator and art director.
