IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlumade a series of visits from the kindergarten to the library, from the communication office to the street market in Avcılar Yeşilkent Neighborhood, which has achieved its 30-year longing for a 'zoning plan'. İmamoğlu said, “Our two neighborhoods were unplanned. Since Tahtakale Neighborhood was declared a reserve area, we did not have the authority to plan. The fact that a plan was made in Yeşilkent also prompted the Ministry to act. And there, too, a plan was made. The work done here has also moved those places into action. Again, your effort, your effort is very valuable” and thanked him, Avcılar Mayor Turan Hançerli, "May the goodness be contagious".

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğluallocated the afternoon part of his Thursday work to Avcılar district. Visiting our Home Istanbul Nursery, Fakir Baykurt Library and Yeşilkent Zoning Plan Communication Office within the IMM Planning Office, together with Avcılar Mayor Turan Hançerli, received information from his staff. Imamoglu, who visited the neighborhood market in the same neighborhood, listened to the problems caused by the economic crisis from citizens and tradesmen. Faced with the intense interest of the citizens, İmamoğlu made his assessment of his visit among the citizens during the market visit.

“THE END WILL BE VERY BEAUTIFUL”

Saying, "We are happy to hear our citizens' appreciation for the process regarding the zoning problem in Yeşilkent," İmamoğlu said:

“But the process has just begun. Hopefully, after these plans, we will prepare and activate the urban transformation plans of 1/1000 together with Avcılar Municipality in Yeşilkent. Of course we have a job here. There are accumulated problems. There are no social areas. We know these. It was a 30-year zoning issue. It hasn't been easy. We made a compromise. We also made transparency. We did it by talking to the citizens. It was valuable that all political parties participated and voted unanimously here. We have demonstrated such a planning skill in many parts of Istanbul; with a transparent, participatory model. Of course, Yesilkent is a separate tragedy. It has a very large population. The child population is high. Young population is high. We found a difficult building and opened a library. We found a difficult place and opened a nursery. Our district municipality is building parks. But I hope that with this new plan, we will obtain equipment areas and meet their social needs, from parks to recreation, from educational areas to many points. Let the people of Yeşilkent follow us. Let them walk with us. Hopefully, it will end very well.”

VISIT TO THE MARKET AND DECOME

Imamoglu, Hançerli, said, “Our two neighborhoods were unplanned. Since Tahtakale Neighborhood was declared a reserve area, we did not have the authority to plan. The fact that a plan was made in Yeşilkent also prompted the Ministry to act. And there, too, a plan was made. There was an intense effort there as well, but the work carried out here also spurred those places into action. It was also beneficial for Tahtakale. Again, your effort, your effort is very valuable,” he added, “Estağfurullah. May kindness be contagious.” İmamoğlu ended his Avcılar trip with a visit to Yeşilkent Djemevi.

The Yeşilkent District of Avcılar, which has been waiting for development for many years, received a development plan in December last year. The IMM Assembly unanimously accepted the 1/5000 scaled Avcılar District Yeşilkent Revision Master Plan.
