Urgent Izmir Mobile Application Spreads to Turkey

The “Emergency İzmir” application developed by the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality will be used by the Hatay Metropolitan Municipality after the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality. Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer and Hatay Metropolitan Mayor Lütfü Savaş signed a protocol regarding the sharing of the mobile application.

Thus, all databases of the application developed by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality were shared with Hatay Metropolitan Municipality after Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Barış Karcı and Head of Information Processing Department Ata Temiz also attended the signing ceremony held at the Sovereignty House.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, stating that they are happy to carry the application to Hatay after Eskişehir, said, “We are proud of our friends in the Department of Information Processing who established this system. With this creative solution they have found, we will be able to quickly provide help to our citizens in their troubled times. Therefore, we are very happy. It is a source of pride for us that this application will be used in other provinces. It is very important to act together,” he said.

Hatay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Lütfü Savaş said that thanks to this system, citizens will be able to reach help quickly in natural disasters. Our friends adapted this application to our own system. From now on, we will be 2 meters away from our citizens who are in trouble by using this application in case of earthquake, fire, flood disaster, and big jammed accidents in Hatay. Even seconds are very important in possible natural disasters. We will do our best to save them. We will support the survival of many of our people, many living things.”

Besides the people of Izmir in urgent needs

Citizens can call for help through the application, not only in earthquakes, but also in natural disasters such as floods and landslides, in compression accidents and in emergency needs such as search and rescue, by conveying their information to the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality teams. The latest earthquakes affecting the Izmir region are displayed, and smart notifications are sent to Emergency Izmir users in case of earthquakes of 3,5 or more.

How does Emergency Izmir work?

• The Emergency Izmir mobile application can be downloaded free of charge from the application markets of smartphones.
• From the Other disasters tab, location information is shared with firefighters in floods, search and rescue and jammed traffic accidents.
• Even after an earthquake and natural disaster, it enables citizens to call out from afar and share their call for help and their location automatically with the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Brigade officials using the "Find Me" command or the "I'm under the debris" button and other disasters tab, even when they cannot reach the phone.
• Under the debris, the citizens' "bluetooth" broadcast is turned on and transmits information such as signal strength and remaining battery level to search and rescue teams.
• By starting the audio broadcast under the debris, it becomes easier for the rescue teams to locate the victims in their debris work activities. With the voice command of the citizens under the rubble, “Your position has been sent to the teams. Don't be afraid, we are soon to find you!” message is being sent.
• The caller can be signaled with the sound of a siren through the application in order to inform the search and rescue teams about the number of people who are next to them and their location in the acoustic listening method. With the “I am safe” button, citizens can send their location information to their relatives and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Fire Brigade officials in the trust rooms they have created before, and share the information that they are safe via message.
