Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu and Vice President Fuat Oktay watched live the moment of launch of Türksat 5B satellite from Cape Canaveral Base. Speaking at the ceremony, Karaismailoğlu stated that projects that could not even be imagined 20 years ago have been realized one by one. Karaismailoğlu stated that projects on land, sea, railway and space were also realized in the country, and that Türksat 5A was sent off to space at the beginning of this year and was put into service in June. Expressing that Türksat was chosen as the first target in the treacherous coup attempt on July 15, Karaismailoğlu emphasized the importance of Türksat.

TÜRKSAT 6A WILL BE TALKED NEXT YEAR

Noting that Türksat continues to develop and work, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu underlined that 6A will be discussed next year. Emphasizing that with the launch of Türksat 6A, whose manufacturing and test studies are ongoing, Turkey will be among the top 10 countries represented in space by producing its own satellite in the world, Karaismailoğlu said: we started,” he said.

THE JOURNEY OF 164 DAYS STARTED

Stating that Türsat 5B was launched at 6.58, Karaismailoğlu made the following assessments: “Türksat 5B went on a 164-day journey. In the launch of the satellite, which will be put into service in June 2022, the first 2 minutes were important, we survived it. And the 30th minute is important, after that the journey will continue without any problems. As the Ministry, we carry people, cargo and data. If we deliver these to the citizens in the shortest, safe, comfortable and economical way, we will have done our duty better. That's why we need to continue to invest. With Türksat 5B, we will be able to reach all regions that we cannot reach by sea, air and land.”

WE ARE SATISFIED WITH YOUTH'S ATTENTION TO THE SPACE NATIONAL

Karaismailoğlu stated that model satellite competitions are organized with the participation of young people who are mainly trained in space and aviation every year, and said that the feelings, thoughts and interest of the young people in space make them happy. Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said, “Human resources are very important. From now on, we will produce satellites with our own resources and operate our satellites in space with these friends," he said.

COVERAGE WILL CONTINUE TO INCREASING WITH TURKSAT 6A

Pointing out that it has a satellite capacity that addresses more than one third of the world in terms of coverage area, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said that Türksat 5A serves more than 30 percent of the world in television broadcasting. Stating that Türksat 5B, where data communication is dominant, will serve in the Persian Gulf, Red Sea, North and South Africa and regions such as Nigeria, Karaismailoğlu stated that the coverage area will continue to increase with Türksat 6A.

TÜRKSAT 5B HAS TWO DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL COMPONENTS

Emphasizing that there are two domestic and national components in Türksat 5B, Karaismailoğlu said, “For the first time, the satellite with domestic and national components will operate in space. But the most important thing for us is the completely domestic and national satellite Türksat 6A. Our domestic and national contribution in technology will continue to increase. In particular, we want to use 5G with completely domestic and national infrastructure. We are planning 6G next. The interest of young people is very valuable for us, especially in order to become a country that produces, develops and exports technology.”

DATA TRANSMISSION CAPACITY WILL INCREASED 20 TIMES

Pointing out that the transformation experienced in the last 20 years is important, Karaismailoğlu said that the whole world sees the power of Turkey in the sea, on the land, on the railways and in space. Underlining that it will continue to be a leader in its region and a country that has a say in the world, Karaismailoğlu told the youth to continue working for the homeland, nation and the future, and to plan and realize their dreams. Expressing that one of the most important features of Türksat 5B will increase the data transmission capacity by 20 times, Karaismailoğlu said that the studies also continue in the terrestrial sense.

Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport, concluded his words as follows:

“The Türksat 42B satellite, which will be placed in a 5 degree east orbit, has started its journey by completing its critical stages. It will be placed in orbit in June and will start its activities after 1,5 months of testing.”
