Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD), one of the most rooted and pioneering establishments of railways, is preparing to join forces with Lithuanian Railways (LTG). In this context, the delegation visited TCDD enterprises and discussed cooperation issues with TCDD.
The delegation headed by Lithuanian Ambassador to Ankara Ricardas Degustıs and TCDD officials met. The delegations, which came together at the TCDD 1st Regional Directorate, discussed the possibilities of developing the Intermodal Transportation and Turkey-Odessa-Klaipeda Semi-Trailer Project to include the TCDD port. He received detailed information from the delegation officials who made technical examinations at Haydarpaşa Port.
After the Haydarpaşa Port inspections, the delegation visited TCDD General Manager Metin Akbaş and held a meeting to discuss the cooperation expectations on transportation and logistics issues related to the transportation routes between Turkey and the Scandinavian-Baltic region and to determine the priority areas of cooperation between the two institutions.
At the meeting held at the General Directorate of TCDD, General Manager Akbaş made a presentation introducing TCDD, which has a deep-rooted history of 165 years, and stated that they are ready for all kinds of cooperation in terms of improving relations between Lithuania and our country.
The Lithuanian delegation, on the other hand, made a presentation introducing their institutions and shared their suggestions regarding the planned cooperation with TCDD in the field of freight transport to be carried out through the ports of the two countries and the supply of railway vehicles and railway equipment.
The parties evaluated the cooperation proposals and agreed to meet again.
