Shanghai Adds New Line to World's Longest Subway Network

Shanghai metro will have a network of 30 kilometers with two new lines that will start operating on Thursday, December 831th. Shanghai metro management stated that with these new lines, the city, which already has the longest metro network in the world, will further strengthen this position.

After the opening of these two new lines, the number of fully automatic subway lines in Shanghai will increase to five. According to Shanghai Metro, the length of the fully automatic lines will reach 167 kilometers, making the city the first in the world in this respect.

The new 38-kilometer line 14 is the first fully automated metro line of eight-car trains in Shanghai. The line, which has 31 stations, will function as a horizontal axis in the metro network of the metropolis.
