Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, stated that they operate in the 12-kilometer railway network, and that they have overhauled and renewed all of the railways that have been untouched for 803 years, and that they will make the National Signal System a brand by expanding it, and the signaled line rate from 50 percent to 65 percent. He said they would increase it to 90.

Pointing out that they will prepare the “Railway Energy and Climate Change Action Plan” and ensure the implementation of strategies to reduce carbon emissions, Karaismailoğlu said, “Whatever we do for our country, it is our duty to leave a more livable, greener, carbon neutral Turkey for our nation. We continue to work intensively with our railroad friends to spread electrified lines across the country.” he said.

Karaismailoğlu stated that as of today, 12 thousand 803 kilometers, ie 5 percent, of all TCDD lines with a total line length of 753 thousand 45 kilometers, have been electrified, and said, “With the completion of the electrification projects on the conventional lines, which are under construction and project design, until the end of 2023, We will electrify 50 percent of existing conventional lines.” said.

Expressing that they have implemented plans and investments not only in the east-west but also in the north-south direction for the ports with their junction lines and logistics centers, Karaismailoğlu shared the following information:

“We will complete the 38-kilometer junction line connecting 34 OIZs, private industrial zones, ports and free zones and 294 production facilities. We will increase the share of railway in logistics to 45 percent. Our dream is to cover the four corners of the country with an uninterrupted railway line.”
