Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu and General Manager of Highways Abdulkadir Uraloğlu visited the General Directorate of Highways Lifeguard Maintenance Operation Chief between Ankara and Bolu on Thursday night, 30 December. Karaismailoğlu and Uraloğlu, who met with the workers here, later came to the Bolu Mountain Tunnel of the TEM Highway, one of Turkey's important transit routes.

Minister Karaismailoğlu, who received information about the snow-fighting activities carried out by the General Directorate of Highways, made statements to the press here.

“We add new machinery and equipment needed every year to the inventory of the General Directorate of Highways for snow-fighting and road maintenance”

Karaismailoğlu stated that new machinery and equipment needed every year are added to the inventory of the General Directorate of Highways for snow-fighting and road maintenance. These studies; It is carried out with 13 thousand 456 personnel in 446 snow-fighting centers throughout the country. To be used in our works; 12 thousand tons of salt, 645 thousand cubic meters of salt aggregate, 540 thousand tons of chemical de-icing and salt solution for critical sections, and 340 tons of urea were stored in snow-fighting centers. On our roads, 8 kilometers of snow trenches were built on the sections where the traffic flow is difficult or closed due to the type and breeze. In addition, in the snow control center established within the body of the General Directorate of Highways; Route analysis, snow-fighting works, opened-closed roads and instant traffic are followed.” he said.

“As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we implemented major projects in 2021”

Noting that in 2021, as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, they have implemented major projects that will shed light on the future of our nation, carry our country to the future, and leave a bright future for our youth, Karaismailoğlu stated that they are planning the investments of Turkey until 2023, 2053 and 2071 with the projects. Minister Karaismailoğlu, who added that they continue to work and achieve success in order to prevent the projects from being disrupted, continued his speech as follows:

“We put 7 kilometers of the highway into service by putting the 400th section of the Northern Marmara Motorway, which is the golden necklace of Marmara, between Hasdal-Habipler and Başakşehir Junctions into service. We also started to work on the Northern Marmara Highway Başakşehir-Ispartakule-Hadımköy. Within the scope of this project, we also started the Sazlıdere Bridge and Kanal Istanbul Project, for which we started the construction work on the Sazlıdere Dam.”

Stating that they have determined the new roadmap for the next period in the field of transportation and communication, Minister Karaismailoğlu gave information about the investments made in 2021. Karaismailoğlu said:

“We have also completed the deck installations of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, one of the most important transportation projects of our country, this year. Leaving behind a very important stage, we are now nearing the end of our project. We opened the Kömürhan Bridge, Devegeçidi, Tohma, Hasankeyf-2 and Zarova bridges. We put the Kızılcahamam-Çerkeş, Rize Iyidere-Ikizdere Road tunnels and Salarha tunnels into service. Yesterday, we opened the Pirinkayalar Tunnel, which connects Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia to the Black Sea, to the service of our citizens.”

“The year 2022 will be a busy year for us to complete existing projects and implement new ones”

Making a statement about the works to be carried out in 2022, Karaismailoğlu said that 2022 will be a busy year in which they will complete existing projects and implement new projects. Noting that they will open the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and Malkara Çanakkale Highway, which will be the symbols of the centennial of our Republic, in the first quarter of 2022, the Minister stated that the Kanal Istanbul project will be one of the most important agendas that they will accelerate.
