Distinguished members of the press, when we say that we have passed the age of railways, we are calling out to those who do not believe us. Since 2003, we have been mobilized for the railways. We quickly revived our old, renewed lines, which had not even been nailed. We have brought TCDD, which does not know about investment, to produce its own national train in 19 years. We implemented the domestic and national signaling project. For the first time in railways, we started to produce railway vehicles and equipment with domestic designs.

Expressing that they brought high-speed trains together with the whole of Turkey with the modernization of railways that have been neglected for many years, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “Dear friends, despite those who do not know what the project is, we are making railway transportation contribute to the economy with our east-west and north-south lines. Because our aim is to support Turkey, which produces with each of our modes of transportation. We are working hard for this purpose, and we are using our resources in the most efficient way.”

Underlining that they have laid a total of 1213 thousand 2 kilometers of new railway lines, 149 kilometers of which are high-speed trains, across the country, Karaismailoğlu said:

“In this way, we have increased our railway network to 12 kilometers. Through our logistics centers, we integrate our railways with our land and airways. Within the scope of our railway investments, it has a special importance in our urban rail systems. We are making one of our urban rail system investments in Kayseri. Last year, we started our work on the Anafartalar-Şehir Hospital-Mobilyakent tram line. With the ceremony we held before we came here, we left behind an important milestone by starting rail welding processes at our Anafartalar station, which is the connection point to the existing tram system. Our project, which consists of 803 stations with a length of 7 kilometers, will strengthen the power of Kayseri's urban rail public transportation infrastructure. Our citizens of Kayseri will be able to reach Kayseri City Hospital, intercity bus terminal and Mobilyakent without interruption with this new line. We will also provide an important transportation opportunity for our students and academicians going to Nuh Naci Yazgan University. We are increasing Kayseri's rail system length from 11 kilometers to 35 kilometers and the number of stations from 42 to 55. Again, we are increasing the number of rail system vehicles from 66 to 5 with the 69 new tram vehicles to be procured within the scope of the project. We will complete the construction works in a few months and speed up the electronic mechanical works. According to the contract, we plan to open our line, which should end in October next year, at the end of summer at the latest, before the schools start.”

Talking about other important investments in Kayseri, Karaismailoğlu said that they completed the restoration work of the historical Tekgöz and Höbektaş bridges in Kocasinan district and Kapuzbaşı historical bridge in Yahyalı district and they put the bridges back into service.
