Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu pointed out that while implementing projects that add value to Turkey one by one, they also attach importance to protecting natural life and said, “To support the wild animal population, he built the first railway ecological bridge in the world to the High Speed ​​​​Train line. Thanks to the camera traps installed on the bridge, we have also found that wild animals have adapted to the environment.”

In his written statement, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that as a ministry, they protect natural life while implementing large projects, and noted that they work in the light of policies that give special importance to all projects and that serve the environment, nature and people, which guide the practices.

Reminding that the environmental emphasis was also made in the 12th Transport and Communication Council, Karaismailoğlu underlined that they started to implement these projects in order to protect wildlife on the railways after the ecological bridges on the highways. Karaismailoğlu said, “In the studies carried out by TCDD with universities and partner institutions, the Ankara-Eskişehir (Beylikova-Sazak) region of the High Speed ​​​​Train (YHT) Line is the natural habitat of red deer, approximately 800 red deer, more than 5 thousand wild boars, foxes. It was determined that there were wild animal populations such as wolf and lynx. The wildlife population had to cross the railroad tracks to meet their water needs. In the observations, it was determined that the wild animals did not use closed culverts and underpasses.

Noting that action was taken on this determination, Karaismailoğlu said that the ecological bridge project was prepared and it was implemented quickly. Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu said, “The project, which is the first bridge built on the YHT Line in the world, will also create a wildlife monitoring and evaluation inventory in the region. In addition to bridge construction, landscaping and wildlife monitoring and evaluation are also included in the project. Measures to accelerate the adaptation of wildlife to the bridge will be provided and controlled by wildlife experts. We also found that wild animals adapt to the environment thanks to the camera traps installed on the bridge. In addition, documentary filming is planned in the monitoring and evaluation part of the project," he said.

STRUCTURE OF THE ECOLOGICAL BRIDGE

With a flute-cut bridge with a height of 9,5 meters, a base length of 74,15 meters and a crest of 46,55 meters, a transitional area of ​​approximately 2 meters was created. On the other hand, Halkalı- On the YHT line, which is under construction, between Kapikule, 3 ecological bridges continue.
