Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlu, participated in the “Little Stars Big Dreams Sports Schools Promotion Program” organized by Spor Istanbul, the subsidiary of the institution. İmamoğlu, at the event held at Cebeci Sports Complex in Sultangazi; A total of 12 children from 827 different branches came together with the athletes and their families. Meeting with the tiny athletes on the field together with Fatih Keleş, the President of the İBB Sports Club, and Renay Onur, the General Manager of Sports Istanbul, İmamoğlu was greeted with the affectionate displays of his little fellow countrymen. There were colorful and emotional moments at the meeting of İmamoğlu and the little athletes. The event, which started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem, peaked with the performance of the “Dance Academy” students. Child athletes named Alya Karagöz and Arda Kümbül accompanied İmamoğlu during the protocol lines.

Emphasizing that the energy in the hall increases the motivation to work, İmamoğlu said, "Sports is an extraordinary thing that keeps people alive, connects them to life and makes them energetic." Saying, "Sports should never be missing from our lives," İmamoğlu said, "In this sense, what we deem worthy of Istanbul and the goal in the Sports Master Plan we have announced is to promise a city of 16 million people that is fit, energetic, can do sports at every moment, and can feel itself in it." … In this respect, I find today's organization very, very valuable.” Sharing the information that İBB has 43 sports facilities and 96 school gyms throughout Istanbul, İmamoğlu said, “Currently, 5 thousand athletes aged between 14-60 years were screened in these areas in one year. Our goal is to increase this number to 2022 by 120. If we increase this figure to 120 thousand, we introduce one out of every 30 children in Istanbul to different branches in sports schools. At this point, we both measure our children and try to determine their abilities. Therefore, we want to create opportunities for our children to do sports in the branches that suit them. We want to guide them,” he said.

Young talents of Istanbul come together in the “Sports Istanbul Stars League”. IMM Sports Schools, opened by Sports Istanbul for children aged 5-15 all over the city, provide sports training in 17 different branches in two-month periods throughout the year. 43 children from the 'Pre-Performance Groups' and 692 children selected from the school gyms will participate in the Sports Istanbul Stars League, studying at the IMM Sports Schools located in 135 different facilities. A total of 12 children from 827 different branches will have the opportunity to showcase their talents and experience the excitement of the tournament in the Sports Istanbul Stars League.
