IMM President Ekrem İmamoğluvisited the President of the Turkish National Olympic Committee Uğur Erdener. Wishing that 2022 will be a year full of energy and sports for the people of Istanbul, İmamoğlu said, “We want to set 2036 as an indispensable and absolute goal for Istanbul. There will be no losers in this process. But of course, we also believe that 36 will suit Istanbul.”
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğluvisited the President of the Turkish National Olympic Committee (TMOK) Uğur Erdener. During the visit to the “Olympic House” in Ataköy, İmamoğlu said; İBB Deputy Secretary General Murat Yazıcı, İBB Sports Club President Fatih Keleş and Spor İstanbul A.Ş. Accompanied by General Manager Renay Onur. Wishing that 2022 will be a year full of sports and energy for the people of Istanbul, İmamoğlu said, “Sports is a lifestyle that people find very moral and enjoy. We want it to become much stronger. Of course, we want it to be strengthened with the concept of an Olympics and really move towards an Olympic journey. It is with this feeling that we came to visit you.”
“WE BELIEVE 2036 WILL BE SUITABLE FOR ISTANBUL”
Saying, "You are the most important guide of this feeling," İmamoğlu said:
“You are one of the institutions with which we will cooperate most in terms of what we should do, what steps we should take, and how we should define human-oriented processes, both nationally and internationally. We are believers. We want to set the absolute 2036 as an indispensable goal for Istanbul. But at the end of the day, if we reveal all its character and all the preparation parameters, we will actually have achieved our goal as Istanbul. Because the Olympic spirit has such a result. Therefore, there will be no losers in this process. That's how we look. But of course, we also believe that 36 will suit Istanbul now.”
ERDENER: “AS A SPORTS PERSON, I THANK YOU VERY MUCH”
Expressing his satisfaction with the visit of İmamoğlu and his delegation, Erdener said, “The steps you have taken to activate the role of Istanbul in sports on the international platform, the very important meetings for sports we have organized even in the last 10 days, the steps you have taken to realize your vision of sports and your future dreams. It's really impossible to describe in words. First of all, as a sports person, I would like to thank you very much. On behalf of Istanbul, you are working very seriously to make Istanbul's Olympic dream come true. There are other cities and countries that are taking steps for 2036 right now. I hope that we will take that step together in the context of sitting at the table with the International Olympic Committee and expressing Istanbul's determination," he said.
