Istanbul Sea Buses Inc. Evaluating the statement of (IDO) that it will stop the car ferry services between Bursa and Istanbul at the point of intercity transportation of the city, the statement made by the IMO Bursa Branch Board of Directors is as follows:

“As it is known, since 2007, the ferryboat between Mudanya - Yenikapı and Bursa - Istanbul sea transportation has been continuing uninterruptedly. According to the news we received recently, Istanbul Sea Buses Inc. It has announced that as of January 2022, this line will cease its operations. We have witnessed many times that these expeditions, which are made mutually in the morning and in the evening, are made almost completely full. Thanks to this line, the connection between Bursa and Istanbul; it could be installed on the European side by saving time with highway, bridge and fuel costs. At the same time, we know that both BUDO and İDO's Sea Bus services are canceled very frequently in winter due to weather opposition, while the Car Ferry is not affected much by this weather opposition. Frankly, we wonder why such a safe and almost 100 percent capacity line was stopped.

BUDO – IDO PIER CAN BE COMBINED

If this pause will last long or not be done at all, this service; Bursa Metropolitan Municipality and its subsidiaries BURULAŞ and BUDO should immediately be put on the agenda, and measures should be taken in advance in order to eliminate the grievances that will arise as of January. At the same time, it will be very beneficial for both Bursa and Mudanya that this situation is perhaps turned into an opportunity and the BUDO and IDO piers are combined and carried out from a single central pier. As it is known, we frequently observe that there is not enough parking space around the BUDO Pier and that the public transportation vehicles carrying passengers between BUDO and Bursa have serious problems in the transportation network during the passenger loading-unloading, stopping and maneuvering movements.

Therefore, as of the beginning of January, Bursa needs to take measures without further damage from the lack of this transportation network that it will face. For this, first of all, 'Is this situation a stop? Or, have the expeditions been completely abolished?” The questions should be answered, and the relevant public institutions or organizations should urgently overcome this problem.

Maybe Bursa can turn this situation into an opportunity and bring this market power in the hands of İDO to Bursa within the body of BUDO.
