Bus drivers working within the EGO General Directorate received a meaningful gift from disabled citizens. The Disabled Rights Federation gave a certificate of appreciation to 27 bus drivers who helped disabled citizens in public transport.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues its activities 7/24 to facilitate the lives of disabled citizens.
As part of the 3 December International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Federation for the Rights of the Disabled presented a certificate of appreciation to 27 bus drivers working under the EGO General Directorate for their behavior towards disabled citizens.
GOAL: AN OBSTACLE-FREE CAPITAL
EGO General Manager Nihat Alkaş, City Council members, ASKİ General Manager Erdoğan Öztürk, Police Department Head Mustafa Koç, Support Services Department Head Yalçın Demirkol, Disabled Rights Federation President Cemalettin Gürsoy and many federation members attended the ceremony held at the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Conference Hall. .
Cemalettin Gürsoy, President of the Disabled Rights Federation, thanked the Metropolitan Municipality for its efforts and support that made the lives of disabled citizens easier and said:
“I would like to thank the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality officials who made this organization with us. Because we could not cooperate with such large institutions. This motivated him even more. I believe that we can achieve a more comfortable transportation in Ankara with the support of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, EGO General Directorate and our driver brothers and the sensitivity they will show us.”
EGO General Manager Nihat Alkaş stated that they continue their work with the goal of 'An Accessible Capital' and made the following evaluations:
“We think that increasing the access rate of people with disabilities and removing barriers make a great contribution to social development. As EGO General Directorate, we take and will continue to take measures to facilitate the lives of our disabled citizens in transportation. Previously, we only received complaints from our disabled citizens, but recently we have started to receive many thank you messages from our disabled citizens about our drivers. On the occasion of December 3, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Federation for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities made a proposal to us, and they conveyed that they would like to give a certificate of appreciation to our personnel, who treat our disabled citizens with kindness and concern while performing their duties. I would like to thank my esteemed colleagues for making us feel this happiness and pride.”
EGO bus driver Mehtap Kaygısız stated that she was very touched by the certificate of appreciation she received and said, “I am very proud. Whether we do this job or not, it is the most humane duty of all of us to help disabled citizens”, while another EGO bus driver Ahmet Tüfekçi expressed his feelings, “I would like to thank everyone for this document. Our disabled citizens are very valuable to us," he said.
