The Entrepreneurship Center İzmir, which was established by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality in cooperation with TÜSİAD in order to produce sustainable solutions to the problems of the city together with young entrepreneurs, gives its first graduates. The 10 startups that made it to the finals in the agricultural entrepreneurship program developed with the support of Yaşar University and İzmir University of Economics will be introduced to the ecosystem with the Demo Day event to be held on December 17th.

The 10 finalist teams, who successfully completed the agricultural entrepreneurship program of the Entrepreneurship Center İzmir, which was opened in Umurbey Mahallesi last February by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality in cooperation with TÜSİAD, will introduce their initiatives to the ecosystem at the Demo Day event to be held on 17 December.

R&D Center Director Reyhan Parlak, Izmir University of Economics Faculty Member Dr. Derya Nizam Bilgiç, Secretary General of Izmir Commodity Exchange Dr. Ercin Guducu and EGİAD Board of Directors and EGİAD At the Demo Day event, where Filip Minasyan, Member of the Executive Board of the Angels, will be the jury member, the top three startups will be supported with a monetary award of 45 thousand TL.

The Center's new thematic entrepreneurship program is expected to be announced in January 2022.

How did the process proceed?

Entrepreneurship Center İzmir is an incubation center that carries out studies to meet regional and sectoral needs from an entrepreneurial perspective in thematic areas determined every year, taking into account the strategic priorities of İzmir. Aiming to accept entrepreneurial candidates with different themes every year, the Center, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç SoyerIn line with the vision of "Another Agriculture is Possible", the theme of the first year was determined as "agricultural entrepreneurship". With this program, which has been carried out since June, it was aimed to develop innovative solutions for the problems experienced in İzmir in the fields of food supply, agricultural production, marketing and rural development.

Within the scope of the Agricultural Entrepreneurship Program, implemented with the support of Yaşar University and İzmir University of Economics, a total of 69 hours of basic entrepreneurship training was given to 27 teams consisting of 52 entrepreneurs. On the other hand, 14 teams (54 entrepreneurs) who successfully completed these trainings went to the next stage and were entitled to receive 47 hours of agricultural and food entrepreneurship training and to develop their projects with the support of the program mentors.
