Ambulances, which are used to transport the sick or injured, can be used for transfer as well as providing emergency medical interventions. In general, it can be divided into 3 categories as land, air and sea. In particular, land ambulances have a loud siren system and emergency lighting. There are ambulances for animals as well as human ambulances. The difference between them is that the medical equipment inside the vehicle is suitable for animals. Vehicles to be used as ambulances must comply with some rules determined by official regulations. Type and shape of vehicles, dimensions such as width, length and height, siren and lighting equipment, communication and radio system, number of doors and opening angle, number of windows, ventilation and heating system, hiding places for medical devices and drugs, suspension system and design of the vehicle. standards are determined by regulation. Vehicles that do not comply with the legislation cannot operate. For each ambulance type, there is an obligation to have different types and numbers of medical equipment depending on the service to be provided. In case of lack of necessary medical devices and medical products, problems may arise both in the licensing and in the assignment process.
There are different types of land ambulances that can be used for different tasks that are specialized in themselves. These:
