Emphasizing the importance of strengthening the relations of the people of Izmir with Gediz, the President Tunç Soyer“We want to ensure that the Gediz Delta, which starts from Mavişehir and stretches from the Sasalı shores to the Foça hills, has a greater place in the lives of the people of İzmir. Home to ten percent of the world's flamingo population and 300 bird species are observed, the delta is one of the rare wetlands on earth within the metropolitan area. Even though it is protected by national and international laws, it is our duty to protect Gediz, which is among the endangered natural areas.”
