Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu visited Bolu Mountain Tunnel Operation Center. Making a press release here, Karaismailoğlu said, “We add new machinery and equipment needed every year to the inventory of the General Directorate of Highways for snow-fighting and road maintenance. Our institution has started to serve with a total of 13 thousand 456 machines and equipment. These studies; It is carried out with 446 thousand 12 personnel in 645 snow-fighting centers throughout the country. To be used in our works; 540 thousand tons of salt, 340 thousand cubic meters of salt aggregate, 8 thousand tons of chemical de-icing and salt solution for critical sections, and 700 tons of urea were stored in snow-fighting centers. On our roads, 822 kilometers of snow trenches were built on the sections where the traffic flow is difficult or closed due to the type and breeze. In addition, in the snow control center established within the body of the General Directorate of Highways; route analysis, snow-fighting works, opened-closed roads and instant traffic are followed.

WE HAVE UPGRADED OUR COUNTRY IN DOMESTIC AND NATIONAL PRODUCTION

Expressing that 2021 was a year in which the epidemic was tried to be brought under control with vaccination studies for the whole world and the normalization processes accelerated, Karaismailoğlu continued his speech as follows:

“We have given an extremely important test regarding the Kovid-19 epidemic, one of the biggest crises humanity has faced. We wrote the epic of nation-state cooperation and solidarity together. We have surpassed our country in domestic and national production. We successfully overcame tough struggles by taking firm steps regarding work and social life with our health, education, economy, trade, infrastructure activities. In 2021, as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we have implemented major projects that will shed light on the future of our nation, carry our country to the future, and leave a bright future for our youth. With our projects, we planned Turkey's investments until 2023, 2053 and 2071. While planning the next 50 years, we continued our efforts to ensure that the services and projects that are needed today and longed for by our nation, by taking all necessary health measures, and we achieved success.”

WE REALIZED A FIRST IN HISTORY BY LAUNCHING 2 COMMUNICATIONS SATELLITE IN ONE YEAR

Providing information about the investments made, Karaismailoğlu stated that in the first days of the year, they launched the national and domestic pride Türksat 8A into its orbit on January 5 and successfully put it into service on June 28. "We launched our new generation communication satellite Türksat 12B into its orbit 19 days ago, on 5 December," said Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, adding, "Thus, we launched two communication satellites into orbit within a year, a first in our history. We put 2 kilometers of the highway into service by putting the 7th section of the North Marmara Highway, the golden necklace of Marmara, between Hasdal-Habipler and Başakşehir Junctions into service. We also started to work on the Northern Marmara Highway Başakşehir-Ispartakule-Hadımköy. Within the scope of this project, we started the Sazlıdere Bridge and Kanal Istanbul Project, where we started the construction works on the Sazlıdere Dam. We have put Camlica Tower, the highest tower in Europe, into the service of our nation, which is an environmental project that is an example to the world and that has moved forward in the field of broadcasting in Turkey.

WE CARRIED OUT TWO INTERNATIONAL SUMMITS

Karaismailoğlu stated that they made Filyos Port, which was opened with an annual container handling capacity of 25 million tons, the new logistics base of the Black Sea and the new address for large-tonnage ships, and that they held two major international summits in the field of transportation. Noting that they gathered international maritime authorities in Istanbul at the Turkey Maritime Summit on July 1, Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu said, “We held the 12th Transport and Communications Council in October, where we brought together international authorities in the field of transportation and communication in Istanbul. After Kovid-19, we discussed the new standards of transportation strategies and global supply chain on a world scale and evaluated future opportunities. We have determined the new road map of the next period in the field of transportation and communication," he said.

WE ARE CLOSE TO THE END OF THE ÇANAKKALE BRIDGE PROJECT

Pointing out that they completed the deck assembly of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, one of Turkey's most important transportation projects, this year, Karaismailoğlu emphasized that they have left a very important stage behind and are approaching the end of the project. Karaismailoğlu stated that they have also opened the Kömürhan Bridge, Diyarbakır-Ergani-Elazığ Road Devegeçidi, Tohma, Hasankeyf-2 and Zarova bridges, and said that they have put the Kızılcahamam-Çerkeş, Rize İyidere-İkizdere Road Tunnels and Salarha Tunnels into service. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said, "Yesterday, we opened the Pirinkayalar Tunnel, which connects East and South East Anatolia to the Black Sea, to the service of our citizens," and stated that they also opened the new terminal building of Gaziantep Airport.

WE WILL BRING A NEW BREATH TO WORLD SEA TRANSPORT WITH KANAL ISTANBUL

Pointing out that 2022 will be a busy year in which new projects will be completed and new projects will be implemented, Karaismailoğlu made the following assessments:

“We will open our 1915 Çanakkale Bridge and Malkara Çanakkale highway, which will be one of the centennial symbols of our Republic, in the first quarter of 2022. The Kanal Istanbul Project, which we started in 2021, will be one of our most important agendas in 2022, where we will accelerate the progress of the project. With Kanal Istanbul, we will bring a new breath to world maritime transportation. We will increase Turkey's logistical dominance in the seas. We will put the Ankara-Sivas High Speed ​​​​Train line into operation at the end of 2022. We are putting our Konya-Karaman high-speed train project into service on January 8th. We will make our High Speed ​​​​Train lines more efficient on the way to becoming a logistics superpower, and we will also use them for freight transportation. In addition to our railway investments, which we have completed, made progress and planned on a national scale, we are leaving behind a strong year for urban rail systems. The contribution of urban rail systems to the economy and the environment is at a level that we cannot ignore. We have 10 projects under construction in six provinces. The year 2022 will be a year in which very large and important urban rail system projects will be realized. We will build the 120 kilometer Beşiktaş (Gayrettepe)-Kağıthane-Eyüp-Istanbul Airport Subway, which will have the title of "Turkey's Fastest Subway" at 37,5 kilometers per hour. On this line, we will first put the Kagithane-Airport route into operation, then the Gayrettepe-Kağıthane line. Kucukcekmece 31,5 km (Halkalı)-Basaksehir-Arnavutkoy-Istanbul Airport Metro Line and Kirazli-Basaksehir Line, which will directly connect Bakirkoy with Bakirkoy -Bahcelievler- Gungoren-Bagcilar Kirazli Metro lines, we plan to finish at the end of 2022. In our ongoing work in Ankara, we aim to open the Atatürk Cultural Center-Garden-Kızılay line towards the end of 2022. Those who use the Tandoğan-Keçiören Metro will be able to reach Kızılay directly in 2022 when this project is completed.”

NEXT YEAR, OUR NATIONAL ELECTRIC TRAINS WILL BE ON RAILS

Karaismailoğlu stated that Gaziantep's urban public transportation system, Gaziray Project, which is one of the most productive provinces in the field of industry and economy in the Southeast, will be one of the projects completed in 2022, and that the national electric trains will be on the rails next year. Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, who said, “We will continue the breakthroughs we made in the railways, which we declared as a reform area in 2021, in the new year”, noted that they aim to open Tokat Airport, which has an annual capacity of 2 million passengers, in the first quarter of 2022.

Underlining that the construction works of Çukurova Airport are continuing rapidly and that they will put the airport into service before the end of 2022, Karaismailoğlu concluded his words as follows:

“We will continue to work with determination on the same path in the new year. By increasing our service quality; We will exert more effort to achieve the goals we set for the development of our country, the development of our nation, the further enlightenment of the future of our youth and the 100th anniversary of our Republic. We will further increase our investment activities within the framework of policies that will contribute to smart, environmentally friendly and holistic development.
