Minister Özer went to İzmir to make various contacts. Speaking at the İTOB OSB Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School and MESEM Groundbreaking Ceremony, Minister Özer stated that they aim to complete the construction of the school next year and congratulated those who contributed.
Stating that Turkey has entered a new era in this field with the new vocational education model that will increase employment, Özer said: “We have entered a new era in vocational education. In vocational education, employers no longer expect those educated in vocational technical Anatolian high schools to graduate. Now we have included our employers in all vocational training processes. We are now updating the curriculum in vocational education together. We plan our students' skills training in business together with our employers and sector representatives. For the first time, we systematically plan the on-the-job and professional development training of our teachers, which is very critical for the quality of vocational education, together with our employers. We want only one thing there: priority in employment. Because, as the Ministry of National Education, we train human resources for our labor market. Therefore, when we include sector representatives in the labor market in the training process, the quality of vocational training increases as well as employability.”
The state will pay the fees of the students.
Stating that they will soon receive the results of the steps they have taken in vocational education in the near future, Özer continued as follows: “With the regulation, we have taken the burden of one-third of the minimum wage received by the students who attend the vocational training center every month, on the employer, as the state. The fees of all students attending vocational training centers will now be covered by the state. The only thing we expect from the employer is to enable our students to receive education in a much more qualified way and to employ them in their own businesses when they graduate. Another important change is that our students who become journeymen at the end of 3 years will no longer be paid one-third of the minimum wage, but half the minimum wage. In other words, with the regulation published in the Official Gazette with the signature of our President on December 25, 2021, each of our students in the vocational training center will receive a monthly fee of approximately 1400 liras. Our journeymen will also have received a wage of approximately 2 thousand 125 liras.”

Explaining that they have implemented a very attractive vocational training model for both employers and students, Özer said, “From now on, we will not construct separate buildings for vocational training centers. We will also open a vocational training center program for each vocational technical Anatolian high school. We have now started to open vocational training centers within the enterprises. We will provide vocational training and employment to approximately 25 thousand young people in the field of tourism in Istanbul. Whoever needs staff, we will run there as the Ministry of National Education. In other words, 'I can't find the person I'm looking for', which was inherited from Turkey after the implementation of that coefficient application in 1999 for 10 years. or 'Even if I find it, I can't find it in the quality I want.' rhetoric will be history now.” he said.
Minister Özer later visited Konak Mithatpaşa Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School within the scope of his program and visited the exhibition where the products of 14 vocational and technical Anatolian high schools were exhibited.
