Ankara Metropolitan Municipality EGO General Directorate started to provide technical and practical training to over 2013 EGO drivers for a total of 76 articulated, solo and electric buses, which were purchased and delivered for the first time since 2. Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who shared with the people of Başkent through his social media accounts that the vehicles with advanced technology have reached Ankara, said, “As a result of the works we started from the first day we took office, we have been ending the complaints caused by the shortage of buses for years. We have started training for the first delivery of our 500 new buses that we have included in our fleet. Very soon, our roads will be red and white,” he said.
Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, which continues its efforts for a safer and more comfortable public transportation to the capital, is expanding its vehicle fleet day by day.
EGO General Directorate, which has purchased new buses for the first time since 2013, took delivery of a total of 76 new buses in the first stage and started to provide technical and practical training to more than 2 EGO bus drivers.
Announcing that high-tech vehicles have arrived in the Capital by video sharing on his social media accounts, Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş said, “As a result of the work we started from the first day we took office, we have been ending the complaints caused by the shortage of buses for years. We have started training for the first delivery of our 301 new buses that we have included in our fleet. Very soon, our roads will be red and white,” he said.
NEW BUSES ARE PREPARING TO ENTER THE FIELD
EGO General Directorate, in cooperation with expert company trainers, prepares 76 articulated, solo and electric bus drivers, which were delivered in November within the scope of new bus purchase, for expeditions.
EGO Bus Department Training Chief İbrahim Erkaymaz stated that the bus drivers are given technical and theoretical training and then practical driving training for the new buses.
“We started training more than 2 drivers to put our buses into service. The training is given by Mercedes' own trainers. We provide training with a staff of four. In the 500nd and 2rd Regions, our trainings are given in groups of 3 people. We aim to provide more efficient training by keeping the number of drivers in our groups at a minimum. First, all technical information is given, and then we move on to practical training.”
EGO drivers, who participated in the training and started to use the new buses, also expressed their thoughts with the following words:
-Kenan Agili: “Our trainings are very productive. Buses are well equipped. Thank you to everyone who contributed."
-Kamil Goktepe: “Our training continues very successfully. We also receive advanced driving technical training. May our buses be beneficial for providing a better service to people and for sustainable Ankara.”
-Ahmet Tufekci: “Our new buses have arrived. Our training continues in a very fast way. Since our vehicles are equipped with the latest technology, it is very useful for both citizens and us.”
TECHNICAL FEATURES OF THE NEW VEHICLES
Citizens will be able to travel more comfortably and safely thanks to the advanced technology of the buses, which are preferred as suitable for urban passenger transportation (M3 category class 1).
The buses, which are low-floor, air-conditioned, suitable for carrying bicycles, have passenger information screens, an announcement system and a double-entry USB port, also have facilitating access features for elderly, pregnant and disabled passengers (disabled ramps, special areas for electric and manual wheelchairs). The buses, which draw attention with their special security equipment, also have a vehicle tracking system, cameras (12 units) and a recording system.
In emergencies, when the panic button is pressed, the message will reach the EGO General Directorate Information Center directly, while the new buses will travel with cruise control limited to 70 kilometers.
