Bayraktar TB2 SİHA Wreckage Taken to Russia

Russian media sources claimed that the wreckage of Bayraktar TB2, which was taken to Russia, was shot down by a Pantsir in Idlib. Russian authorities stated that the wreckage belonged to a Bayraktar TB2 that crashed in Libya. As a variant of denying Russia's presence in Libya, the phrase a Bayraktar TB2 crashed in Idlib is used. It is a known fact that Russia has brought its weapon systems from various battlefields to its country from past to present.

Among the mentioned systems; There were land platforms such as BMC Vuran, Otokar Cobra I and ACV-15. For the first time, it was reflected to the public that a Turkish air platform was also taken. It is aimed to obtain the necessary intelligence data for the friendly elements to gain tactical superiority on the battlefield by subjecting the aforementioned systems to various examinations. When the battleship Cobra I was captured, its armor structure was examined and its weaknesses were tried to be determined. With a similar approach, it is aimed to detect the vulnerabilities of the system over the Bayraktar TB2 wreckage. It should be noted that Bayraktar TB2 and other platforms do not remain as they were on the first day. It is constantly updated and developed. The data Russia aims to obtain may and will be out of date when it is transferred to the field. Examining the introduction of weapon systems belonging to "enemy" elements from the battlefield to the country, etc. matters is an effective method as a public opinion study. Azerbaijan did this after the Nagorno-Karabakh War and it is a practice that has examples in the world.

BMC Vuran taken to Russia

The Shooting Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicle (TTZA), produced by BMC, was captured on a convoy in motion on a military tow truck in Russia. Although Russian sources claim that the vehicle was seized in Syria, this is highly unlikely. It is considered that it was captured by Haftar's forces from the GNA forces in Libya.

It was claimed that the photo shared from Russia was taken in Moscow and that it was a BMC production Hedgehog. However, it could be seen from the visible part of the vehicle that was covered that it was the Vuran TTZA.

It was exhibited in Russia on the ACV-15

During the Euphrates Shield operation, an ACV-15 used by the FSA was seized by the Regime forces in line with the course of the conflict. The seized vehicle was exhibited in Moscow together with the vehicles that Russia stated to have been seized by the “Counter-Terrorism” activities after being used by information sources belonging to the Regime.

Russia made the train travel on a route longer than 28 thousand kilometers just to use the vehicles as a propaganda element. The vehicle included MRAP and armored vehicles produced by various countries seized in Syria. Among the vehicles on display, Humvee, ACV-15 and Panthera F9 stand out.

Otokar Cobra, which belonged to Georgian troops in South Ossetia War, was also captured and examined by Russia.

Libyan Pantsir-S1

Bayraktar TB2 SİHAs also targeted two Pantsir-S16 air defense systems that were newly dispatched to Vatiye Air Base on May 17-2020, 1. One of the systems was seized at Atiye Air Base, which was taken under control by the GNA forces today. The seized system appeared to be damaged. As reported by The Africa Report, the capture of the Pantsir-S1 air defense system provided access to important intelligence on Russia's military technology. For this reason, in the early days, there was a disagreement between Turkey and the USA about which country would take the air defense system under surveillance. Turkey, which wanted to examine the Pantsir-S1 system in detail, insisted on taking it under surveillance. Finally, Turkey and the United States reached an agreement. In an interview with The Africa Report, an official who was aware of the talks said that one of the US Air Force cargo planes had taken the Pantsir-S1 system from Libya and delivered it to Turkey. He also stated that the official agreed that the Pantsir-S1 system could be examined jointly by both parties while in Turkey. When the USA and Turkey reached a compromise, Libya's legitimate government, GNA officials were relieved.
