Realizing the project for the construction of the first nuclear power plant of the Republic of Turkey, AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş. organized a seminar for potential project suppliers. The seminar, attended by nearly 150 representatives from more than 230 different industrial establishments and institutions from many regions of Turkey such as Mersin, Adana, Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Gaziantep, attracted great interest from the business circles in the region where Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NGS) was built. he saw.
In the first session of the seminar, which was held in four sessions, the participants listened to the opening speeches of Salih Sarı, Head of Nuclear Infrastructure Development Department of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, General Directorate of Nuclear Energy and International Projects, and Yalçın Darıcı, Representative of Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MTSO). In the session, AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş. representatives and invited experts also made presentations. AKKUYU NUCLEAR INC. Production and Construction Organization Director Denis Sezemin shared information on the current stage of Akkuyu NPP's construction, while AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş Localization Leader Azat Odekov gave information about localization and efforts to involve Turkish suppliers in the Akkuyu NPP construction project. Mersin University Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Department Head and Energy Technologies Application and Research Center Director Assoc. Dr. Gökhan Arslan made a presentation on energy and global warming, global energy outlook, Turkey's energy outlook, nuclear energy and the importance of nuclear energy for Turkey.
Salih Sarı, Head of the Nuclear Infrastructure Development Department of the General Directorate of Nuclear Energy and International Projects, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Turkey, drew attention to the global increasing trend in the demand for nuclear production in the process of reaching low-carbon economy targets. Sarı said, “Our country ratified the Paris Climate Agreement in October of this year and thus set the goal of achieving zero carbon emissions by 2053. In this context, nuclear power plants, which will contribute significantly to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and will also become the key point of our country's energy security, have an important place in the development strategy of Turkey's energy system. Turkey plans to build three nuclear power plants in which a total of 12 power units will be operated in accordance with the strategic objectives determined.
AKKUYU NUCLEAR INC. Production and Construction Organization Director Denis Sezemin also stated in his presentation: “There are many important developments in the construction of Akkuyu NPP at the moment. Construction of the three power units continues as planned. In October of this year, the Nuclear Regulatory Authority granted the license for the construction of unit 4. The license allows us to start the construction of all the main facilities of the 4th unit. With the receipt of the license, we have completed the licensing process for the construction of Akkuyu NPP. We are now ready to start working on all 4 power units. At the beginning of next year, the concrete works of the foundation plates of the turbine and reactor buildings will be started.”
The second session of the seminar attended by AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş representatives was devoted to Rosatom's purchasing system, the requirements of nuclear power plant suppliers, and the execution of purchasing procedures in the nuclear industry. In the third session, the main contractor of Akkuyu NPP, Titan2 IC İçtaş İnşaat A.Ş. representatives gave information about the procurement procedures covering the next two years. In the last session of the seminar, purchasing practices, preparation of documents and application procedure, the most common mistakes in participation in the tender and the rules for registering on electronic commerce platforms were discussed.
In the afternoon, representatives of AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş and Titan2 IC İçtaş İnşaat A.Ş held a meeting in b2b format. At this meeting, representatives answered questions from potential suppliers about the requirements for the procurement procedures of the Akkuyu NPP project.

Within the framework of the Akkuyu NPP project, we received comprehensive information on all issues related to procurement. Located in Yeşilovacık Neighborhood, our hotel was opened in July of this year. Since Akkuyu NPP site is nearby, only a 10-minute drive away, we decided to build a hotel in this area. Hotels on the beach usually only operate during the tourist season, but thanks to the Akkuyu NPP project, we have the opportunity to work all year round. Even now, in December, our hotel is more than 50 percent full and almost all of our guests are somehow connected to Akkuyu NPP. This enables us to continuously employ qualified personnel. I see the Akkuyu NPP project as a great advantage and a great potential for the development of the region.”
Seminar participants attended the AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş. The stand remained open throughout the day. The participants of the seminar had the opportunity to visit a photography exhibition about the life around the nuclear power plants operating in various regions of Russia, as well as photographs of the construction process of Akkuyu NPP.
Photographs from the photographic archive of ROSATOM, the Russian State Atomic Energy Agency, and the works of Turkish photographers who visited the nuclear power plants in Russia were also included in the exhibition. AKKUYU NÜKLEER A.Ş regularly organizes seminars in different formats for representatives of supplier companies in Turkey with Rosatom. These seminars aim to inform potential suppliers about their plans to purchase equipment, materials and services within the scope of Akkuyu NPP's construction project, as well as clarifying how Rosatom will carry out procurement procedures taking into account the requirements of a single industry supply system.
