Environment, Nature and Animal Protection units, which were established under the Police and Gendarmerie to prevent crimes against the environment, nature and animals in 2020, and to catch those who committed these crimes, with the instruction of Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu, continue to work with 2.500 personnel and 205 fully equipped vehicles.

Animal Situation Monitoring (HAYDİ) mobile application was also launched in order to enable these units to fight crimes against the environment and animals more effectively.

With the HAYDİ mobile application, notifications about endangered animal species can be made easily, as well as notifications for the protection of animals. 177 thousand 700 reports were made through the application installed on mobile phones by 30 thousand 82 people.

Throughout the country, 2 thousand 602 incidents within the scope of the Turkish Penal Code and the Animal Protection Law were intervened by the Gendarmerie and Police HAYDİ teams, and 2 thousand 577 suspects were referred to the judicial authorities.

Legal action was taken against 1740 people

According to the Turkish Penal Code, “Anyone who releases an animal under surveillance in a way that may be dangerous for the life or health of others, or who neglects to control them, is sentenced to imprisonment of up to six months or a judicial fine.” In accordance with the provision, legal action was taken against 1740 people who released animals in a dangerous way.

In addition, an administrative fine was imposed on 1964 people who walked dangerous dog breeds in children's playgrounds and in places where citizens are concentrated, without mouthguards and masks.

In addition, 384 people who kept dangerous animals such as Pitbull Terrier and Japanese Tosa were fined, and 401 dangerous animals were delivered to shelters.

The endangered dog species were determined by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry as Pitbull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Bransilerio, American Staffordshire Terrier and American Bully. It was given until January 6, 14, to have the animals neutered and registered for those who have 2022 dog breeds.
