In the operation carried out by the Ministry of Commerce Customs Enforcement teams at the Olive Branch Customs Gate, cigarette packages of foreign origin and without a banderol were seized from a trailer of a lorry.
A notice to the Customs Enforcement teams that there would be cigarette smuggling was evaluated by the units and recorded. After a suspicious truck, which was learned to bring smuggled cigarettes from Syria, arrived at the customs gate, action was taken after the warning received from the notification system.
The vehicle was first shipped to the x-ray scanning device. During the scan, suspicious density was found on the trailer floor of the truck. Thereupon, it was decided to remove the floor coverings of the trailer. It was found that cigarette packs of foreign origin and without banderol were filled into the secret compartments created by the smugglers under the dismantled floors.
As a result of the operation, a total of 13 packs of cigarettes without banderol were seized, and the vehicle used in the transport of the contraband was also seized.
