Audi e-tron GT was deemed worthy of the first prize in the 'The Most Beautiful Car of the Year' category at the Golden Steering Wheel awards (Goldenes Lenkrad- Golden Steering Wheel) held in Germany for 2021. In the category where 70 models were evaluated, the winner was determined by the votes of the readers of Auto Bild magazine and Bild am Sonntag newspaper.
The 45th Golden Steering Wheel Awards found their owners with the award ceremony held in Berlin Axel-Springer-Haus. Audi AG CEO Markus Duesmann, who attended the ceremony, was presented with a famous sculpture for the “Most Beautiful Car of the Year” award, for which the e-tron GT was awarded.
Stating that the E-tron GT especially emphasizes the point and claim reached by the Audi brand in this field, Duesmann said, “With its impressive performance, it offers the most emotional state of electromobility. The model also symbolizes a stance with its sustainable concept. In this sense, E-tron GT is our pioneering model”.
Selected from each category and 70 new models
In addition to its prestige, the Golden Steering Wheel awards, which was first held in 1976, is also one of the oldest automotive awards in Germany. In the competition, which was held for the 45th time this year, 12 new models in 70 categories were evaluated. The Most Beautiful Car of the Year award has a special importance as it is chosen among 70 models in all categories and by the votes of the readers.
Audi's pioneer in electric mobility
E-tron GT is considered to be the pioneer of the future in electric mobility for the Audi brand, which is preparing to introduce only electric models to the market from 2026. In this sense, the E-tron GT has become a symbol of the Audi brand with its emotional design, dynamic performance and sustainable concept as well as its sportiness.
The model proves this claim with many other awards apart from the Golden Steering Wheel Award: the 2021 Autonis award in the best design innovation category in the luxury class given by auto motor und sport magazine, and the 2022 German Car of the Year award in the luxury category are among these.
