In October, 368 new energy vehicles were sold in China. This figure corresponds to an increase of 148,1 percent compared to the same month of the previous year. The sales figure in October 2020 was 144 thousand. According to the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) data; Sales in October were 6,3 percent higher than the previous month.

Another striking point is the increasing interest in electric vehicles. Because electric vehicles accounted for 368 of the 303 thousand sales figures, while the sales amount of hybrid vehicles was 65 thousand. On the other hand, 368 thousand of the 321 thousand vehicles sold were passenger cars and 47 thousand were trucks or buses. Total sales of new-energy passenger cars reached 2021 million in 2,38, an increase of 204,3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Considering the number of vehicles sold, BYD is still at the forefront. This company sold 81 thousand 40 new energy vehicles in October. Of these, 41 were electric vehicles and the rest were hybrid vehicles. Tesla took the lead in hybrid vehicle sales in the past months. In October, Tesla sold 232 vehicles made in China. Compared to the 54 thousand 391 vehicles sold in the same month of 2020, a 12 percent increase draws attention.

40 of the vehicles produced at Tesla's Giga Shanghai facility were exported. These were Model 666 and Model Y vehicles in particular. On the other hand, Tesla opened a thousand supercharging stations in China in October, as well as a Data and Delivery Center in Shanghai.
