German manufacturer Opel, which continues its move towards electric without slowing down, was selected as the Best Car Under 25.000 Euros at the annual “Golden Steering Wheel Awards” organized by the German Auto Bild magazine with its battery-electric Mokka-e. Opel, one of the leading brands of electric transportation, reinforces its success in this field by being entitled to the “Golden Steering Wheel Award”, one of the most prestigious awards of the automotive industry, with Mokka-e after Corsa-e. Moreover, Opel, which has a long history of success in automobile awards, has already brought 19 “Golden Steering Wheel Awards” to its museum.
The new Opel Mokka-e, surpassing its competitors, continues Opel's tradition of success in this award, by being selected as the "Best Car Under 2021 Euros" at the "25.000 Golden Steering Wheel Awards", one of the most prestigious awards in the automotive industry. Just last year, the battery-electric Opel Corsa-e won the “Golden Steering Wheel Award”. The Ampera-e in 2017, the Corsa-e in 2020, and the Mokka-e in 2021 won the award as Opel's third electric and first SUV. Electric vehicles bearing the Şimşek logo excite the jury members and readers of AUTO BILD and BILD am SONNTAG expert press members as well as their customers.

Opel Mokka-e: a striking battery electric with the Lightning logo integrated into the Opel Visor
The new Opel Mokka-e arouses excitement not only with its bold and simple design, but also with its performance. The electric motor with 100 kW/136 hp and a maximum torque of 260 Nm ensures a powerful, almost silent drive. The 50 kWh battery offers a range of up to 338 kilometers on a single charge, according to WLTP. The maximum speed is electronically limited to 150 km/h. The state-of-the-art brake energy recovery system makes the Mokka-e even more efficient, providing energy recovery during deceleration or braking. The battery can be fast-charged up to 100 percent in 30 minutes at a 80 kW DC charging station.
Opel has received 19 “Golden Steering Wheel Awards” to date.
Readers of AUTO BILD and BILD am SONNTAG vote first on the road to the "Golden Wheel" victory. They choose three favorites in each category and make it to the final. Afterwards, the distinguished DEKRA Lausitzring jury, consisting of journalists, racing drivers and automobile experts, evaluates the finalists according to the AUTO BILD test criteria.
With this award, for which Mokka-e is deemed worthy, Opel is bringing its 19th “Golden Steering Wheel Award” to the Opel Museum. The award, which was first given by BILD am SONNTAG in 1976, started to be given in 1978 within the framework of AUTO BILD cooperation. For Opel, the adventure begins in 1978, when it received its first “Golden Steering Wheel Award” with the Opel Senator A.
