Kayseri Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Inc. By adding another one to its practices to improve service quality, awareness was created for its employees with the work 'supporting operational excellence with lean production approaches'. At the end of the trainings, 3 Kaizen Projects, which are a continuous improvement approach, were implemented.

Transportation Inc., which sets an example for other cities, especially Istanbul, with its work on transportation in Kayseri, and provides consultancy services by producing transportation-related projects to countries such as Azerbaijan and Cyprus, this time, one of the strategies it has determined to improve the service quality, “Operational supporting excellence with lean manufacturing approaches”.

Within the scope of this strategy, trainings on Kaizen, which is a continuous improvement approach, were given to the employees of the institution. At the end of the trainings, 3 Kaizen Projects were implemented.

DEAD MILES REDUCTION WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE FIRST PROJECT 'FUEL SAVINGS PROJECT'

The details of the projects, including the determination of the developments in the field of public transportation, the monitoring of the applicability of innovative studies and the technological infrastructure studies, were made by making presentations to the managers and employees. The aim of the study was to reduce dead kilometers within the scope of the 'Fuel Savings Project', which is the first project. It was mentioned about the solutions applied to reduce the mileage consumption of vehicles without passengers on the way to refueling. Methods were developed to increase efficiency and determined solutions were started to be implemented.

THE PURPOSE OF THE SECOND PROJECT 'HAPPY CUSTOMER'

Ticket machine malfunctions were discussed in the second project, the 'Happy Customer Project'. Alternative methods were examined in order to quickly and effectively resolve device and user-related malfunctions. All faults originating from the device were examined and the sources of faults were determined. In order to eliminate these malfunctions, new periodic maintenances were defined. It was determined that malfunctions were reduced thanks to the device modifications and the applied maintenance process.

LAST PROJECT 'WORKSHOP MAINTENANCE ROAD PROJECT'

Within the scope of the 'Workshop Maintenance Road Project', which is the last project among the works carried out, improvements were made in the Bogie heavy maintenance process. By reducing the waiting time for rail system vehicles maintenance, space was gained for vehicles in need of maintenance. Thus, space and time savings were achieved by avoiding the costs that may arise with new investments.

GÜNDOĞDU: “IT WILL BE BENEFITS IN MANY AREAS”

Speaking after the project presentations, Transportation Inc. General Manager Feyzullah Gündoğdu, emphasizing the importance of success together with the employees, conveyed his thanks to the project teams and stated that these projects serve the purpose of the company, which is determined as contributing to making the city more livable. Gündoğdu mentioned that the projects carried out have many benefits, from reducing carbon emissions to increasing customer satisfaction, from eliminating the need for new investments to developing employees, and noted that the works carried out opened the door to many new project ideas.

General Manager Gündoğdu also stated that Kaizen studies will continue with new projects.
