Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu pointed out that they established Kars Logistics Center for the purpose of handling the cargoes carried on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway line, and stated that Kars Logistics Center has started to work very actively, and that 417 thousand tons of cargo has been transported since the day it was opened.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made a statement about Kars Logistics Center. Underlining that they have focused on railway investments in recent years, Karaismailoğlu noted that they will increase the share of railways in the Ministry's investments up to 60 percent. Explaining that they attach importance to freight transportation investments as well as passenger transportation, Karaismailoğlu continued as follows:
“With the opening of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, railway operation has started from the Far East to Far Europe from the uninterrupted common corridor. From Beijing to London, our trains have started to trade and logistics frequently. We have a target to take 30 percent of the capacity in the corridor passing through Russia, which is the northern corridor, to the middle corridor passing through our country. In this direction, our work and policies continue. With the commissioning of the high-speed train lines, which are under construction, freight transportation will be possible on these lines.
MORE THAN 1 MILLION 419 THOUSAND TONES OF CARGO HAS BEEN TRANSPORTED ON THE BTK LINE
Emphasizing that freight transport on the BTK railway line is increasing day by day, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu pointed out that as of November 19, a total of 262 trains, 26 thousand 214 containers and 1 million 419 thousand 686 tons of cargo were carried on the BTK railway line.
Reminding that Kars Logistics Center was established in order to revive the historical Silk Road and to create an important logistics center for transports with Russia and Central Asian countries, Karaismailoğlu said that Kars Logistics Center will be built on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway, which connects Asia and Europe. He stated that it is one of the important points of the BTK) line.
Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “We established Kars Logistics Center for the purpose of handling the cargoes carried on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway line. With a transport capacity of 412 thousand tons, a logistics area of 400 thousand square meters was gained.”
INFRASTRUCTURE WORKS OF KARS LOGISTICS CENTER COMPLETELY FINISHED
Noting that there are a total of 19 railway lines in the center, Karaismailoğlu pointed out that since the opening of Kars Logistics Center, 349 thousand tons of cargo has been transported by 417 trains. Expressing that the middle corridor has become functional with the opening of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars Railway and this has made Kars an important center, Karaismailoğlu noted that Kars Logistics Center has also started to work very actively. "This will continue to increase from now on," said Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, "The infrastructure work of Kars Logistics Center is completely finished. We are making preparations for the second phase of this center,” he said.
