İBB has completed its preparations within the scope of combating winter conditions. İBB will be ready at 7 intervention points with 421 thousand 534 personnel and 465 vehicles. IMM Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) will coordinate the work.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) has completed its preparations for the 2021-2022 winter season with all its units. Snow ploughing and salting teams affiliated to IMM will be ready against negativities in 4 response routes in the 23 thousand 465 km responsible road network in Istanbul. With 7 thousand 421 personnel and 534 vehicles, winter shifts will be carried out throughout the city.

According to 2020 data, it has been determined that the icing rate in Istanbul is a minimum of 3 days and a maximum of 63 days, and studies will be carried out in line with the messages from BEUS (Ice Early Warning System) established at 60 points. Salting will be carried out against snow accumulations and icing at critical points such as overpasses, bus stops, squares.

PEOPLE LIVING ON THE STREET WILL BE GUESTED AT IMM FACILITIES

Those living on the street will be determined by the municipal police and undergo health checks. Those in need will be hosted in IMM facilities. Studies on the feeding and treatment of stray animals will also be carried out by the teams of the Veterinary Services Directorate.

In addition, during heavy snowfalls: mobile kiosks will be available for emergency services of hospitals, piers, hot drinks, soup and water service to drivers waiting in traffic on the roads.

At the meeting held under the chairmanship of IMM Deputy Secretary General Murat Yazıcı: IMM Road Maintenance and Infrastructure Coordination Department, Fire Brigade Department, Support Services Department, Transportation Department, Agricultural Services Headquarters and Food Department, and other relevant directorates; IETT, İSKİ, İGDAŞ, İSTAÇ, İSFALT, Metro İstanbul units and affiliate companies took place at the table representing İBB. Representatives of the Provincial Police Department, General Directorate of Highways, IGA Airport Operation, Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and ICA company, the operator of the ring roads, also attended the evaluation meeting.
