TOYOTA GAZOO Racing won the Hypercar era's first World Championship with a double victory in the Bahrain 6 Hours and made history in endurance racing.

Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José María López in the #2021 GR7 HYBRID won the penultimate race of the 010 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). Sébastien Buemi, Kazuki Nakajima and Brendon Hartley, who raced in the number 8 car, gave the team a perfect weekend in second place. Toyota Hypercar vehicles won the race by 1 lap over their closest rivals.

In the Bahrain race, where pilots, engineers and mechanics competed in hot and challenging conditions, after these results, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing won its fourth and third consecutive World Championships in WEC. This win also ensured the GR010 HYBRID Hypercar's 100 percent win rate continues with one race left.

In the final race of the WEC, the focus will be on the Drivers' World Championship. The Le Mans-winning team number 7 is one step closer to winning the World Championship title and have a 15-point advantage over their teammates.

The title fight between the two Toyota GR010 HYBRIDs will conclude on Saturday, November 6, in the final race of the 2021 WEC season. The final race will again take place in Bahrain.

Evaluating the team's championship, Koji Sato, president of GAZOO Racing, said, "Congratulations to team #7 with three consecutive wins and #8 team for runner-up for bringing us our first Hypercar World Championship. "It was exciting to watch our two cars compete and the team's effort was great in difficult conditions at high temperatures."
