They show the most effective project management tools that can be implemented at the state level”, – he emphasized.

AKKUYU NUCLEAR INC. General Manager Anastasia Zoteeva: Many things affect the Akkuyu NPP project management system, including being the first nuclear power plant of the Republic of Turkey, being the first NPP built according to the “Build-Own-Operate” model, and many other features. A strong international team of experts has been formed in the Akkuyu NPP project, and this victory in the competition is the result of their hard work. We are fully incorporated into the NGS lifecycle scenario in all areas of project implementation. We also take into account the long-term perspectives of the project, ensuring maximum level of construction activities at the NPP site: preparation of personnel, development of infrastructure, provision of operating conditions for the future power plant”, – he noted.

The construction of Turkey's first nuclear power plant “Akkuyu” on the Mediterranean coast is one of the most comprehensive strategic projects of Russian-Turkish cooperation and includes 4 power units with “800+” generation VVER-3 type Russian designed reactors with a total capacity of 1200 4 megawatts.

The Akkuyu NPP project includes support in the establishment of the necessary national legal framework for the turnkey construction of the nuclear power plant by the State Atomic Energy Agency "Rosatom", development of nuclear and network infrastructure, solutions in the field of financing nuclear projects, training and retraining of national personnel, localization of production. It is an example of a comprehensive offer. Rosatom not only builds nuclear power plants, but also becomes the supplier of all main and auxiliary equipment. The NPP, built over its entire service life, allows Russian enterprises to operate, including the fuel sector, maintenance, modernization and a chain of companies for future decommissioning of the nuclear power plant. Such a project scheme is attractive to business-owning countries and creates long-term opportunities for the development of the Russian nuclear industry.

The awarding ceremony of the winners of the competition was held on November 18, 2021 during the ”Practice of Project Management Practice” conference in Moscow.
