The project of the century is approaching the end step by step. Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that the assembly of 1915 out of 87 decks on the 81 Çanakkale Bridge was completed and said, "The assembly of the remaining 6 decks is planned to be completed in a short time."

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu made a written statement about the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge; “The Malkara-Çanakkale Highway, which also includes the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, will connect Istanbul to Çanakkale and the North Aegean when it is completed, and is among the prestige projects of our country.”

Karaismailoğlu, who also gave information about the works carried out, noted that the project works on the Suspension Bridge and highway route continue. Karaismailoğlu pointed out that the production of anchor blocks in Europe and Asia was 99 percent complete and made the following assessments:

“The production of deck panels and blocks has been completed at the factory. Until today; The assembly of 43 deck blocks in total, 38 in the middle opening and 81 in the side openings, was completed. Welding works on the slab blocks, whose assembly has been completed, continue. A total of 87 decks will be assembled. It is also planned to complete the assembly of the last 6 decks in a short time.”

Stating that the Asian and European approach viaducts have also been completed, Karaismailoğlu said, “Earth works, engineering structures and superstructure works are continuing in the 96,4 kilometer section between Malkara Junction and Umurbey (Çanakkale Junction), which is the beginning of the project, within the scope of highway works.”

Noting that the project is aimed to be completed and put into operation on March 18, 2022, Minister of Transport Karaismailoğlu continued as follows:

“When the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge is completed, it will have the title of the world's largest mid-span suspension bridge. The total length of the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge; Referring to the 100th Anniversary of our Republic, it is 2 meters with 23 thousand 770 meters of middle span and 3 meters of side openings, and it is expected to be 563 thousand 365 meters with 680 and 4 meter approach viaducts. The bridge deck was planned as a twin deck with a width of 608 meters and a height of 45 meters. The steel tower height will be 3,5 m, symbolizing the 18 March Çanakkale Victory, and the bridge will serve traffic with 318×2 lanes.”
