One of the cable car cabins that went up to the landscape terrace on Mount Jested, located in the Liberec region of Czech Republic, at an altitude of 12 meters, fell from a height of 30 meters. The cable car operator, who was in the cabin at the time of the accident, died at the scene.

The second cabin, which came right after the falling cabin, was suspended on the ropes at a height of 15 meters. It was reported that 1 operator and 13 passengers in the second cabin were rescued without injury by the firefighters who came to the scene.

Liberec Region Rescue Service SözcüIn a statement, Michael Georgiev said, “The operator in the crashed cabin died at the scene. Our units carried out the evacuation of 14 people in the second cabin, who did not suffer any injuries, using the ladder with high altitude technology.”

The fallen cable car was to be closed for maintenance tomorrow

The electrical equipment of the cable car, which brought 211 people to the summit last year, was changed two years ago. It was stated that the cable car, which was out of service for more than 100 days due to the corona virus measures, will be closed for routine maintenance for 2 weeks from tomorrow.
