Another important development took place after the cancellation of the 'EIA positive' decision regarding the Dikili Çukuralan Gold Mine 3rd Capacity Increase project was approved and finalized. İzmir 360th Administrative Court decided to stay of execution for the 6 thousand tons/year capacity Çukuralan Gold Mine Crushing and Screening Plant project, which was planned to be built in the same region and for which the decision was made that 'EIA is not required'.

The decision to suspend the execution of this project, which has a negative impact on the production in Kozak Plateau, one of the production centers of pine nuts, is a great achievement for Dikili and the surrounding districts. This decision also means another important development for the salvation of thousands of trees, groundwater and Nebiler Waterfall, which drains into the Dikili Bay.
How did the process proceed?
Koza Altın İşletmeleri Anonim Şirketi applied to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization regarding the Çukuralan Gold Mine Crushing and Screening Plant project. After the application, the İzmir Governorship decided that "EIA is not required" for the project. Thereupon, EGECEP and 19 citizens filed a lawsuit at the Izmir 7th Administrative Court on September 2020, 6, for the annulment of the decision. On March 10, 2021, in the case in which the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality was also involved, it was stated that "In Kozak Plateau, which is the homeland of pine nuts, a high yield decline was experienced with the increasing environmental problems, this situation was directly reflected on the economic power of the people, and from the activity to be carried out, the water resources of the people of Izmir were negatively affected. A stay of execution decision was requested on the grounds that “will be affected”.
