The original owner used this freighter to transport cargo in Dansö on the west coast of Sweden. It was purchased by Kerstin and İlhan Koman in 1965 and, after a detailed restoration, was radically transformed to live and work in it.

In Hulda, the Komans led a wandering life, visiting the archipelagos of the Baltic Sea in summers with their friends and students, and anchoring in Stockholm's Drottningholm district in winter.

WHO IS İLHAN KOMAN?

İlhan Koman, who was born in Edirne in 1921 and celebrated his 17th birthday on June 2021, 100, studied at the Istanbul Fine Arts Academy.

İlhan Koman was one of the rare world artists of today, who has universal value both in terms of space and time. In the production process, he studied human, nature, architectural consciousness, mathematical/geometric/physical phenomena, scientific principles and current technologies from his student years until his death. With the experiments he developed, he produced unprecedented works in contemporary Turkish and Swedish art, challenging the seemingly unchangeable or indisputable theories in fields such as sculpture, mathematics, statics, and alternative energy production. The art education that Koman continued in Paris between 1941-1947, which started in Istanbul in 1951, was realized in the plaster, stone and iron sculptures that he developed independently, with the development of 'virtues' that establish partnerships with the environment and nature through art.

İlhan Koman, who passed away in 1986, created a unique school, especially the sculptures he realized in public spaces and the works in which he synthesized different cultures, and made Koman a world-renowned sculptor.
