Free Public Transportation for Health Care Workers in Bursa Extended Until the New Year

With the unanimous decision taken at the November council meeting of the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Council, healthcare workers who are the heroes of the pandemic process will benefit from public transportation free of charge between November 15 and December 31, 2021.

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality continues to support health heroes, who are at the forefront in the fight against coronavirus, and who work devotedly by being deprived of their families, children and loved ones. The Metropolitan Municipality, which has always been with healthcare workers with accommodation, free use of public transportation, vitamin C support packages and Health Heroes Memorial Forest, has extended the period of free use of public transportation.

The Metropolitan Municipality, which gave free access to public transportation to health workers in March last year, re-activated the application, which ended on July 1, 2020, on October 23, 2020, with the peak of the pandemic. The duration of the application, in which a total of 24 thousand 628 people received health worker cards, was extended until May 16, 2021, the last day of the full closure. Within the scope of the Gradual Normalization Measures published by the Ministry of Interior on the last day of the full closure, the period of free use of public transportation for health workers was extended until 1 June 2021.

The proposal for healthcare professionals to benefit from public transportation free of charge until the end of the year was put on the agenda at the November meeting of the Metropolitan Municipality Council. With the unanimous decision at the meeting, all healthcare professionals in Bursa will benefit from public transportation vehicles free of charge with their specially issued cards between November 15 and December 31, 2021. The application will not be valid on lines making inter-district transportation and tourism lines (F3, E-80).

Meanwhile, two academics were elected as citizens of the month at the Assembly Meeting. 190 academicians from Bursa, who entered the list of the most influential scientists in the world, published every year by Stanford University in the State of California and this year 63 thousand 2 scientists from around the world, were selected as citizens of the month. Uludag University Engineering Faculty Automotive Engineering Department Lecturer Prof. Dr. Ali Rıza Yıldız and Bursa Technical University Civil Engineering Department Head Prof. Dr. Honorary Doğuşcan Akbaş was presented with plaques by Ahmet Yıldız, who chaired the assembly, and Halide Serpil Şahin, a member of the assembly.
