Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, who made a presentation at the Planning and Budget Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, said that we made approximately 95 percent physical progress in Beşiktaş (Gayrettepe)- Kağıthane-Eyüp-Istanbul Airport Metro.

To date, we have completed a total of 313,7 kilometers of urban rail system lines and put them into the service of our nation. We have contributed 4 billion TL to the Turkish economy with 7 metro projects we have undertaken in 21,75 provinces. 988 million passengers have been transported so far with the metros we have implemented in Istanbul, Ankara, Kocaeli and Antalya. We saved 305 million hours of time and 282 thousand tons of fuel. We have achieved a reduction of 156 thousand tons in carbon emissions. The contribution of urban rail systems to the economy and the environment is at a level that we cannot ignore. We have 6 projects under construction in 10 more provinces. When these projects are completed, we will save 10,8 million hours of time and 146,2 thousand tons of fuel, in addition to contributing TL 136 billion to our economy. Thanks to urban rail systems, traffic congestion in our metropolitan cities will be solved, and there will be a 73 thousand tons reduction in carbon emissions.”

We have made approximately 120 percent physical progress on the 37,5 kilometer Beşiktaş (Gayrettepe)- Kağıthane-Eyüp-Istanbul Airport Subway, which will have the title of "Turkey's fastest metro" at 95 kilometers per hour. On this line, we plan to open the connection between Kağıthane and Airport in the first quarter of 2022, and between Gayrettepe and Kağıthane in the second quarter of 2022. “We will put the line into service at the end of 2022. We aim to complete the 6,2 kilometer Başakşehir - Çam and Sakura City Hospital - Kayaşehir Metro, which we started last year by taking over from the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, in a period of 18 months. On the other hand, we are adding 2 new metro lines to Istanbul. We started working on Altunizade-Çamlıca-Bosna Boulevard Metro Line and Kazlıçeşme-Sirkeci Rail System and Pedestrian Focused new generation transportation projects. Our Ministry is also taking important steps towards solving Ankara's urban transportation problems. For this, we are expanding the metro lines. With the completed Kızılay–Çayyolu, Batıkent–Sincan and Atatürk Cultural Center–Keçiören metros and Başkentray, we increased Ankara's 23,2 kilometers rail system to 100,3 kilometers. Atatürk Cultural Center-Gar-Kızılay line is 3,3 kilometers. Those who use the Tandoğan – Keçiören Metro will be able to reach Kızılay directly when this project is completed. We will open this line in the second quarter of 85, with a physical realization of approximately 2022%. Kocaeli Gebze Sahil-Darıca OSB metro is 15,4 kilometers long. Bursa Emek-Şehir Hospital Rail System line is 6 kilometers. With the extension of the existing Emek – Arabayatağı rail system Line, easy and comfortable transportation will be provided to the City Hospital and YHT Station from the city center.”

In the Turkish rail system sector, we have achieved a strong synergy by gathering the sector stakeholders under the same roof with the aim of being the locomotive institution in the production of railway vehicles. Thus, we develop products with national design in the rail systems sector, open these products to the world market and bring them to high brand value. With the experience gained from the production of National Train Sets, we started the Train Set Project studies at a speed of 225 km/h. We plan to complete the prototype in 2022 and start mass production in 2023. While continuing the production of diesel, electric locomotives, railway maintenance vehicles, modernization of railway vehicles, train control management system, wagon, diesel engine, we also carry out R&D studies for the development of national railway vehicles.
