The 4th International Fishing Contest, attended by amateur anglers from different provinces of Turkey and many countries, was held at Gölcük Değirmendere Yüzbaşılar Beach. In the competition organized by Kocaeli Sportive Anglers and Nature Conservation Association with the support of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, Gölcük Municipality and Kocaeli Chamber of Shipping, the athletes who ranked in the competition received their trophies and gifts. In the Gulf of Izmit, where there are all kinds and types of fish, almost like an aquarium, a total of 240 fish, such as Izmarit, Lapin, Hani, Horse mackerel, Ispari, Swallow, Öksüz, Dil, Weasel, Red Barbun, Eşkina, Haddock, Scorpion and stingray, were hooked.

90 FISHING FISHERS ATTENDED

An award ceremony was held in the competition where 90 amateur anglers from Turkey, Azerbaijan, England, Germany, Greece, Italy, Poland, Netherlands and Tunisia participated. AK Party Kocaeli Deputy Radiye Sezer Katırcıoğlu, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Yaşar Çakmak, Kocaeli Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Fatih Taşdelen, Gölcük Mayor Ali Yıldırım Sezer, Kocaeli Chamber of Shipping President Vedat Doğusel, Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department. Chairman Mesut Önem, Kocaeli Sportive Anglers and Nature Conservation Association President Kadir Cihan Pestil, amateur anglers and citizens attended.

LONGEST FISH 38 CM

Within the scope of the competition, Evren Tamer from Kocaeli ranked first with 59 fish with 565 points, Engin Özkan from Istanbul came second with 78 fishes with 544 points, and Marco Murgia from Italy with 41 fish came third with 369 points in the men's category. In the women's category, Dila Gençer from Kocaeli came first with 24 points with 440 fish, followed by Gülmelek Topal from Kocaeli with 61 fish with 281 points, and Miranda Willemse from the Netherlands with 19 points with 169 fish. Rahile Özbaran, who participated in the competition from Mersin and caught 38 cm long red snapper, won the cup in the biggest fish catching category. A total of 240 fish were caught in the competition. The caught fish were released back into the sea. After the awards were given to the winners, the protocol and the athletes took a souvenir photo.
