World Athletics, the international management unit of athletics, showed the 'N Kolay Istanbul Half Marathon' as the 'World's Fastest Half Marathon' for women. Kenyan athlete Ruth Chepngetich broke the world record in the race, surpassing her competitors in the classification. N Kolay Istanbul Half Marathon was ranked as the World's 2nd Fastest Half Marathon in men in the same evaluation.

The 'N Kolay 16th Istanbul Half Marathon', in which the world record was broken for women, achieved another important success. The race, which was run on April 4, 2021, was named the 'World's Fastest Half Marathon' in women by the World Athletics (World Athletic Association). 'N Kolay Istanbul Half Marathon' is the 'World's Fastest Half Marathon' for women in the 'event performance' ranking of October 2021; in men, it was selected as the 'World's Second Fastest Half Marathon'. The first place in men was the 'Valencia Half Marathon' with a margin of 295 points.

Kenyan athlete Ruth Chepngetich broke the world record with a time of 16:1:04 and became the first in the 02th Istanbul Half Marathon of 'N Kolay. In men, world record holder Kenyan athlete Kibiwott Kandie finished the race in first place with a time of 59:35.

Despite the negative conditions prevailing all over the world due to the pandemic, Istanbul, where activities continue uninterruptedly in 2020 and 2021, will host elite athletes who are on important steps in the world rankings at the 'N Kolay 7rd Istanbul Marathon' on November 43. The rise of Istanbul to the top of the World Athletics list also increased the interest shown in the N Kolay 43rd Istanbul Marathon.
