IETT is in front of Istanbulites with its Nostalgic Vehicle Fleet in its 150th Anniversary

This time they went on a time travel. Veteran IETT buses, which have been serving Istanbulites for decades, are waiting for their visitors. The buses exhibited in Taksim and Sultanahmet Square bear traces of the past of each of us.

Our father did not get on the bus that our grandfather used to take, but we did not get on the bus that our father used to take. Every generation has a separate bus in Istanbul. With its 150-year history, IETT has carried Istanbul and still does. Over the years, buses belonging to 8 different brands have served millions of people. The buses, which left memories in the past of Istanbul and Istanbulites, went on a journey in time. Celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, IETT started to exhibit its nostalgic buses in Taksim and Sultanahmet. Istanbulites who saw the old buses made a journey to the past in their minds.

Istanbulites showed interest in Tosun, the first local trolleybus they passed, and the Leyland brand bus, the favorite of Turkish movies.

IETT General Directorate, one of the subsidiaries of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), was established in 1871 with the start of the horse-drawn trams. Public transportation, which started 150 years ago, soon expanded from horse-drawn carriages to electric trolleybuses, from there to motorized buses, to environmental buses today.

HISTORICAL BUSES ON HISTORICAL SQUARE

In its 150th year, IETT met the people of Istanbul with its nostalgic vehicle fleet. 8 of the nostalgic buses belonging to 4 different brands, which left deep traces in the history and social culture of Istanbul, met with Istanbulites in Taksim and 4 in Sultanahmet.
